Chapter 95
Joshua instinctively nodded. “Leave it to me.”
Celeste was still unsure of what was happening. She watched as Joshua grabbed Zander by the arm and dragged him toward the treatment room. He asked, “Ms. Morin, may I borrow your treatment room for a moment?” With that, he slammed the door shut from the inside.
The loud bang echoed through the entire clinic, ringing in everyone’s ears as if it reverberated through every corner. All eyes turned toward the treatment room, but no one knew what Joshua was up to. It wasn’t until they heard Zander’s agonized screams from within that Celeste finally realized something was wrong.
“Mr. Wrenford, we should just have the police deal with him. His body has already experienced an allergic reaction, and he has just regained consciousness. If he gets hurt right now, it could cause even more trouble.”
Celeste’s face was tense as she looked at Adrian, a hint of worry in her eyes.
Annie quickly added, “Yes, we should call the police!”
Adrian sat calmly in the examination chair, his long arm resting on the desk. His fingers, adorned with a ring, tapped lightly on the table. The rhythm was almost hypnotic, making everyone present hold their breath, afraid to make a sound.
After a long pause, he finally spoke in a cold voice. “Forgiving your enemy is just being cruel to yourself.”
As the words settled in the room, Adrian raised his sharp eyes and locked gazes with the anxious Celeste. When she didn’t respond, he spoke again. “Didn’t Ms. Cooper say that your medical skills are among the best in Longdale? Even if my people hurt him, with your abilities, Ms. Morin, you can surely pull him back from the brink.”
Rowan felt a growing tension in his stomach as he watched Adrian, who remained unfazed. If the beating kept going, not even God could save Zander.
“I’ll ask you one last time. Who’s behind this?” A sharp, piercing voice suddenly rang out from inside.
Chapter 95 (2/2)
Celeste looked up at the sound and was met with a horrifying sight. The treatment room’s glass was frosted, allowing a vague outline of what was happening inside. She could clearly see Joshua raising his hand, holding something that looked like a knife. Zander’s hands were also visible on the table. Celeste’s heart shot up into her throat.
Annie instinctively grabbed Celeste’s hand, unwilling to continue watching, and buried her face in Celeste’s chest. Rowan also instinctively turned his back, unwilling to witness the scene unfold. However, Celeste’s eyes remained locked on the frosted door, not even the slightest flutter in her gaze.
Adrian sat beside her, observing her intently. That unwavering determination in her seemed to pierce through the air and catch his attention. A subtle smile curved the corner of his lips.
Just as the sharp instrument was about to land, Zander blurted out without hesitation, “It’s Simone!”
At that exact moment, the weapon in Joshua’s hand halted just above Zander’s hand. The sharp sound of the weapon hitting the floor echoed throughout the treatment room, loud and clear, reaching even those standing outside.
“Simone?” Annie looked at Celeste in disbelief. “Celeste, isn’t Simone one of Lucy’s close friends?”
Celeste’s gaze darkened instantly, and she nodded thoughtfully. “Yes.” She hadn’t expected Simone to be the mastermind behind this incident.
