Chapter 122

โ€œUsually you would get your key when you were assigned, but since youโ€™re late, Iโ€™ll just give it to you now.โ€ She pulled a key on a wristlet and handed it to me. โ€œThe dorms are open to move into this weekend and class starts on Monday morning.โ€

I looked at my mom, and she shook her head. โ€œYou waited to the last minute, didnโ€™t you, baby?โ€ I just grinned.

โ€œI informed the university I was spending the summer at another pack out of their territory."

โ€œThat you did. I saw your note on the file. You were actually the next thing on my to-do list. So you saved me the hassle.โ€

โ€œNext on your to-do list?โ€ I laughed. โ€œWhy?โ€

โ€œThe dean wanted me to follow up on all alphas that have registered this year to ensure that each got the classes they wanted.โ€

I nodded along, but my mom frowned. โ€œWhat happens if a beta or gamma wolf picked their classes before the alphas and were accepted into the program, only for an alpha to ask for the same spot?โ€

Mrs. Sandlewood frowned. โ€œUnfortunately, with the newest administration rules, the lower ranked wolf is bounced from the program.โ€

โ€œWait.โ€ I reeled back. โ€œPlease tell me I didnโ€™t bump anyone from the program."

She shook her head. โ€œNo. Thankfully, like I said, computer science was a less in-demand program. You were the only alpha to even request that department. The rest were gammas, and one beta.โ€ I sighed and nodded. But this was something that didnโ€™t sit right with me. If alphas wanted their choice of department, then we should apply sooner, not expect others to be bumped.

โ€œGood. I didnโ€™t want to take anyoneโ€™s spot.โ€ I smiled and looked down at my schedule. I was looking at my classes and the teachers, and I stumbled over a name. The class at seven, the teacherโ€™s name, was left undetermined. โ€œWho is the teacher for the late class again?โ€

โ€œThat is a surprise.โ€ Mrs. Sandlewood tried to smile, but I saw a flash of fear. โ€œHe wants to be low key, so he isnโ€™t on anyoneโ€™s schedule and he will show up just for the class."

โ€œWeird, but okay.โ€ I shook my head and stood. โ€œThank you, Mrs. Sandlewood.โ€

โ€œBefore you go, dear. Since school starts in a few days, the dean has opened the campus for students. You can find out where you need to go, so you are more prepared for Monday. If you want, you can take a few minutes to find your dorm room and your classes. There are student chaperones outside the dorm building. Just head on over and grab one.โ€

โ€œThank you again, Mrs. Sandlewood.โ€

โ€œNo worries, dear.โ€ She turned back to her computer, and we turned to leave. โ€œOh, shoot, wait.โ€ We turned back and she was typing away at her computer. She waved us over, and we sat back down. She hustled back to the printer and huffed out a breath. I could smell a hint of fear that scented the air, and I looked at my mom.

She lifted her finger to her lips, and I just nodded. Now wasnโ€™t the time to discuss this reaction. I needed to figure out exactly what Vince was doing, not only in the pack, but apparently here at school, too. I shook my head in disgust. Everything I learn this time around paints a clearer picture. Vince had taught Brandon how to be an alpha, and I think that was the first problem. Vince seemed to be the catalyst for the ruination of my life. He supported Shannon in my last life after I mated with Brandon.

He wanted Brandon to have a strong mate, but he didnโ€™t care what he did on the side. Up until he stepped down, he would fawn over me as Brandonโ€™s mate. Then when Brandon took over, he placated me, telling me I was the true luna so what Brandon did on the side didnโ€™t matter. But behind my back, he would tell Morgan everything to speed up the downfall of our bond. He even said he smelt another of our child, supporting Shannonโ€™s claims that I was cheating.

Brandon was too weak to even smell his child, and his father used that to ruin us. But it was still Brandonโ€™s fault for believing them. So it will still be his fault when I bring the end to his line.

โ€œAlpha Amy?โ€ Mrs. Sandlewood was back sitting in front of her computer, and fear scented all the surrounding air. I shook myself and smiled. โ€œIโ€™m sorry. I was thinking too hard.โ€ I watched as she took a deep breath.

โ€œI forgot a few things.โ€ She started, the fear in the air became thicker. She sat there shivering. This older woman was terrified of our reaction and it honestly broke my heart.
