Chapter 123
โItโs okay,โ my mom tried to calm her. โI forget things all the time.โ We both laughed and waited.
Mrs. Sandlewood settled a little and chuckled along with us. โOh. Well, some days are like that.โ She laughed as she clicked a few times on her computer. โFirst thing. I forgot to give you this.โ She handed me a piece of paper. โThis is a list of things needed for your dorm: blankets, sheets, daily life items people take for granted.โ I nodded along. โOn the back is a list of things Alpha Vince thinks the Alphas should bring to be easily identifiable.โ
I furrowed my brows. โWhat?โ I flipped it over and read what seemed to be a checklist of superiority. โLouis Vuitton jewelry, or other name brand items. Luxury brand clothing only. Purses and other accessories should be above $10,000 in price, daily.โ I looked up from the list, and Mrs. Sandlewood was actually sweating. โWhy?โ
โWhat in the goddessโ name is he trying to do? Even if a person is the Alpha, some packs canโt afford this.โ My mother snatched the paper out of my hand and shook her head. โWhat is he trying to do?โ I looked at my mother and gave a tiny shake.
We canโt say anything here. โWell, Iโm just not going to follow this.โ I smiled a little. โAnd if Vince has a problem with it, he can take it up with me.โ I shook my head and went to get up again.
โWait.โ I settled back into my seat. โYour food card. I forgot all about it.โ
My mom smacked her head. โOh my goddess, so did L.โ I looked over at her and raised an eyebrow.
โI know you mentioned it before just now, but what is the deal? Couldnโt I just buy food with my debit card?โ I looked between the two laughing women. โWhat?โ
โBaby, the university works within a specific system. The only card you can use to purchase anything here is the food card.โ
โWe have been using the system for years. Itโs stopping kids from flashing their money around.โ Mrs. Sandlewood typed on her computer. โWe load the card, and it comes with a specific daily limit that you canโt go over.โ
โWhy?โ I was dumbfounded. What on earth was going on? Brandon stopped me from going to university in my last life, so I was completely lost hearing this.
โYears ago, there were a few Alphas that went out of their way to throw their weight around. One was to torment other students, and the other stood up and made a point.โ
โWhat exactly happened?โ I turned to my mother, and she snickered.
โWell, there was an Alpha that was throwing his money around,โ she started between her chuckles, โspecifically, the year I started here.โ
โOkayโฆโ I shook my head in confusion.
โWell, the first Alpha was from a richer pack, and he flaunted it.โ Mrs. Sandlewood picked up the story as my mother lost it to her giggles. โHe would try to buy things for his friends, and even bought out the textbooks for one class, screwing over the rest of the class.โ My mother interrupted.
โWho was from a much richer pack?โ
โAnd a little bit of an asshole,โ my mother cackled.
โAnd he then bought out the entire store and gave everything away to the other students. He made sure everyone was ready for their classes with the textbooks, except for the first Alpha.โ
Chapter 129
โIt was incredible.โ My mother wiped her eyes, finally done laughing.
โIt was something. I worked here in the office back then and was witness to the mayhem they both created. The card system was implemented within a month.โ
I nodded along. โWho were the Alphas?โ I looked at Mrs. Sandlewood, but she was clearly not going to answer.
My mother rubbed my hand as she coughed. โVince was the first Alpha, and the second was your father.โ
There was a thick silence in the room until Mrs. Sandlewood cleared her throat. โNow, that story isnโt meant to be run around the school, so keep it to yourself.โ
โOf course,โ I automatically answered.
โSo, how much would you like to add to your card?โ
โHow often can we load it?โ My mom asked. โWhen it was first started, it was a one-time loading, and then the kids had to budget.โ
Mrs. Sandlewood nodded. โThe program is the same. Thatโs why Alpha Vince typed up the requirements for Alphas. He wanted you to be prepared before you came and had to budget.โ
My mom looked at me and kind of bobbed her head back and forth. โAnd the remainder of the money at the end of the semester, is it rolled over, or is it emptied and then reloaded?โ
โWe changed that. We used to refund it every semester. We recently moved to a roll-over method. You can add to it at the beginning of each semester, but once itโs gone, itโs gone until the end of the term.โ
