Chapter 496

We pulled the sheets off everything and spent a few minutes bringing in extra chairs. My dad took his chair and patted the seat beside him. Ronnie leaned against the window, facing the door.

My dad grabbed my hand. โ€œI have missed you, baby girl.โ€

โ€œI missed you too, dad,โ€ Nix said, pushing forward, our eyes flashing. โ€œWe have all missed you.โ€ Nixโ€™s smoky voice echoed from my lips. Loki pushed forward and smiled. โ€œI still have a pup I havenโ€™t met.โ€

โ€œOnce this is done, I want to go meet both of you,โ€ Loki said; his eyes mirrored my own. Megan pushed forward, and I felt my eyes shift to her brown ones. โ€œI would really like that.โ€

Loki receded, and my dad reached a hand to my cheek. โ€œIโ€™m sorry,โ€ he said, his fingertips dancing under my left eye. โ€œI never knew.โ€ His thumb pressed gently.

Megan tilted her head and chuckled. โ€œAmy didnโ€™t even know I existed until you taught her magic. Without you, I would have stayed hidden, like last time.โ€ Megan lifted my hand and took his. โ€œNever apologize for something you couldnโ€™t help.โ€

There was a knock on the door. My dad squeezed my hand once before releasing it. โ€œCome in.โ€

Toyaโ€™s father entered, followed by a few other alphas. โ€œBad time?โ€

โ€œNot at all,โ€ My dad gestured to the chairs. โ€œItโ€™s a little tight, not like at the Agora.โ€ He chuckled. โ€œThis is my daughter, Amy. Amy, this isโ€”โ€

I stood. โ€œI know,โ€ I smiled at each man. โ€œIโ€™ve met everyone in this room when I was younger. Itโ€™s good to see you all again.โ€

โ€œYou have grown up,โ€ Alpha Tim smiled.

โ€œI have indeed,โ€ I gave them a quick bow and settled back into my chair.

โ€œOkay,โ€ My dad clapped. โ€œAmy, why donโ€™t you start at the beginning? What happened after you left here?โ€

I opened my mouth to begin, but there was another knock. My dad turned toward the door, and before he could speak, a huge man enteredโ€”taller than any Iโ€™d ever seen. Nix snorted. Heโ€™s a little shorter than the king. I drew in a breath and shushed my wolf. She snorted with laughter, but I turned to my dad. โ€œThoth? I didnโ€™t expect you to show up.โ€ He sounded surprised, but my breath hitched. My head snapped back to the masked man. He turned and froze. โ€œThoth?โ€

That got his attention. He cleared his throat. โ€œYou told me you were coming back here with the alphas. I figured you wanted a meeting to plan our next steps.โ€ His voice was low, but the mask had a voice changer, as his voice was warped. He turned to me. โ€œI didnโ€™t know Amy was going to be here.โ€

My dad waved him in. โ€œRonnie, grab him a chair.โ€ My dad nodded to me, and Ronnie smirked.

โ€œOf course,โ€ Ronnie left and returned with a chair. He slid it beside me and gestured to it. โ€œThoth.โ€

Thoth took a breath and maneuvered through the chairs, seating himself beside me. He looked at me for a long moment before shifting his gaze to my dad. โ€œYou were just starting?โ€ he prompted.

My dad shook his head. โ€œNot me. Amy. Go ahead, darling.โ€ I turned to him. โ€œStart when you left here. I already caught everyone up to speed on what happened before you left.โ€

I nodded and began talking. I had just reached the part about my heat and how Iโ€™d dealt with it alone when I received a message. I pulled out my phone and continued, but my voice trailed off as I checked the message from Rick.

โ€œYou went through your heat alone?โ€ Alpha Tim asked, taking my phone from my hand.

โ€œYes. I had someone I thought might help,โ€ my words were distracted. โ€œBut he wanted to wait for his true mate and he didnโ€™t want me to resent him later.โ€ The alphas nodded. I pocketed my phone. I told them about Nina and Nadine, about Vince Brandon, and finally, I reached the end. โ€œThey call themselves the Brotherhood of Blood.โ€

Thoth stiffened beside me, but my dad furrowed his brow. โ€œWho does?โ€

โ€œVince, for one. But I think itโ€™s the people who started all this before the old king died. Someone named Garith.โ€

My father, Ronnie, and Thoth froze. Thoth slowly turned to my dad. โ€œDid you say Garith?โ€

I nodded. โ€œI know the name, but canโ€™t place it. Itโ€™s like something is making me forget, and it isnโ€™t until the name reappears that I remember.โ€ I shook my head. โ€œRick found emails between Garith and Vince. It looks like Garith started this all. But I donโ€™t know where I know the name from.โ€

โ€œHeโ€™s my father.โ€
