Chapter 167: Indeed Very Chaotic

Translator: Tim Editor: Chrissy

The tourist group Ye Mo joined was quite popular in Luo Cang. Everything was likely prearranged, so the tour leader never questioned Ye Mo. He probably knew Ye Mo was merely using the tour to reach Hong Kong.

Once in Hong Kong, the group’s first activity was shopping, but Ye Mo separated from them. He planned to handle his own business first—obtaining the Silver Heart Grass—before treating the patient.

Ye Mo knew Metal River's big boss, Metal Mountain, was in Hong Kong, but he didn't know his address. He wasn't worried, though. Since Metal Mountain lived in Hong Kong, he must have influence there; Ye Mo just needed to find his connections.

Before boarding the plane, the tour leader warned that Miao Pu was extremely chaotic. Despite its popularity, he advised foreign tourists to avoid it. Ye Mo, needing to find Metal Mountain, naturally had to go to the most chaotic area. Metal Mountain was a mafia lord; the darker and more chaotic the place, the easier it would be to find him.

Miao Pu was indeed teeming with people and entertainment venues. The streets were lined with fast-food restaurants and stalls, resembling a large market. Numerous enticing snacks were on offer. Ye Mo saw a shop selling exquisitely made fish ball rice cakes and couldn't resist buying one. The owner, a man in his fifties whom people called Uncle Pei, did a brisk business.

It wasn't peak hour, so there were a few empty seats. The uncle's skill was impressive, his movements precise. Minutes after Ye Mo sat down, he received a steaming bowl of rice cakes topped with a golden fish ball.

"You must be from the mainland," the uncle remarked, initiating conversation during a lull.

Ye Mo took a bite. The rice noodles were delicious, a little spicy but authentic. He wasn't surprised by the question; his accent differed from that of Hong Kong locals.

They chatted for a while before a commotion erupted. Ye Mo turned to see two groups fighting across from the vegetable market. Two people even ran towards the shop.

Their pursuers, brandishing a cleaver, gave chase.

Ye Mo watched the fight. This place was indeed chaotic. The rice noodle shop owner immediately said, "Young man, don't look. This sort of thing happens every few days. Ignore them, and they'll leave you alone."

Ye Mo nodded and continued eating. When others saw the fight approaching, they hastily abandoned their bowls and fled to avoid getting caught in the crossfire. Only the owner and Ye Mo remained. Ye Mo continued eating, even as nearby patrons retreated.

However, one of the fleeing men was blocked at the shop's entrance.

A slightly chubby youth was kicked in the chest by the man with the cleaver and sent flying towards Ye Mo's table.

"Punk, get lost! Da Tang has business here!" The three pursuing youths, seeing Ye Mo still eating, kicked over one of Uncle Pei's cooking pots, spilling the noodles.

Ye Mo's good mood vanished. He grabbed his bowl, approached the youth who'd just spoken, and covered his face with the hot noodles, coldly saying, "So what if I don't?"

"Aaaaagh!" The youth howled, his face burning red and white.

"Charge! Hack this bastard!" Enduring the pain, the youth raised his cleaver and attacked.

The other two followed suit, charging at Ye Mo with their weapons.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Ye Mo delivered three consecutive kicks, sending the youths sprawling without moving from his seat. They looked at him in terror, eventually crawling up and retreating, realizing they'd met their match.

"Punk, you're dead! Just you wait, messing with Da Tang…" One youth threatened as he retreated, but before he finished, Ye Mo kicked him in the face.

The youth was sent flying several meters, his nose bleeding, two teeth knocked out. He turned and fled, too terrified to speak.

The chubby youth also got up shakily, preparing to flee.

"You, come here," Ye Mo said.

The youth shakily approached. "May...may I ask...what you want...?" He couldn't even finish his sentence.

Ye Mo's earlier display had been terrifying.

"Do you know Metal River?" Ye Mo casually asked.

"Metal River?" The youth's expression changed. "I don't know. I'm leaving!" He stumbled out of the shop.

Ye Mo didn't stop him. He wondered why the youth was so scared if he didn't know Metal River.

Uncle Pei, watching Ye Mo with admiration, approached. "Young man, those you just beat are from Da Tang. Even the police can't touch them. Leave quickly. If they return, escape will be difficult."

He believed that while Ye Mo was a skilled fighter, it wouldn't matter against Da Tang.

Ye Mo thanked Uncle Pei and stood up. Police cars finally arrived. Leaving the shop, Ye Mo sought a hotel, wanting to avoid wasting time with the police, not fearing the mafia's revenge.

Disappointed at learning nothing about Metal River, Ye Mo remembered his primary goal: retrieving the Silver Heart Grass. His secondary goal was to cure the disease; he needed lodging and planned to investigate at a nightclub that night.

After settling in, Ye Mo showered. At nightfall, he intended to return to Uncle Pei's for another bowl of rice noodles before searching for news on Metal River.

But the shop was closed, surrounded by a crowd. Blood stained the ground.

Ye Mo felt a chill. He heard someone say, "Uncle Pei was a good man his whole life, but he was hacked to death for warning that mainland kid."

"What happened to Uncle Pei?" Ye Mo asked.

The crowd dispersed upon seeing him. No one wanted to talk.

Ye Mo grabbed an elderly man. "Tell me, what happened to Uncle Pei?"

The man's face paled. "I don't know! Let me go!"

"Oh, you don't know? Then I'll go around saying you're advertising Da Tang's misdeeds," Ye Mo threatened.

Terrified, the man said, "Please don't! Lao Pei was killed for telling someone involved with Da Tang to leave. The mainland youth got away, but Lao Pei paid the price." He didn't know Ye Mo was the youth.

Ye Mo's face darkened. He was furious. Lao Pei had been killed for warning him. Before finding Metal River, he'd have to deal with Da Tang.

"Where are the perpetrators?" Ye Mo asked. In Hong Kong, such a brazen murder couldn't go unpunished.

"They ran. The police are chasing them, but I don't know the details," the old man replied quickly, his expression suggesting it would be fruitless.

"Where do Da Tang members usually gather?" Ye Mo pressed.

The old man, seeing no one helping, quickly said, "Usually at San Li Feng's Earth Heart Entertainment. That's Da Tang's territory. Please, let me go!"

Ye Mo released him, and the man fled without looking back.

Earth Heart Entertainment? Ye Mo hadn't anticipated fighting the mafia in Hong Kong after dismantling Metal River in Luo Cang. He didn't want to, not out of fear, but because of the trouble. The mafia's actions didn't concern him, yet he kept encountering them.

Most would flee such a situation, but Ye Mo wouldn't let Lao Pei die in vain. Besides, he might find information on Metal River within Da Tang. He hailed a taxi and headed for Earth Heart Entertainment, prepared to eliminate Da Tang if necessary.
