Chapter 226: Deep and Meaningful Talk

Ye Mo understood Tang Beiwei's feelings. Bullied and helpless, she'd faced immense pressure without support, even resorting to actions against her conscience. Finding a possible relative, she feared she'd almost committed an unforgivable act.

He gently set Tang Beiwei down, remaining silent for a moment before speaking. "We both didn't know at the time. Even now, we can't be certain of our relationship. A bracelet isn't definitive proof, so don't worry. And even if we are siblings, there's nothing to fear, right?"

Though Tang Beiwei had calmed, Ye Mo offered further comfort.

Tang Beiwei paused, looking at Ye Mo. "Brother Ye... um, would you consider a DNA test?" She hesitated over how to address him; "brother" felt too sudden, yet "Ye Mo" seemed inappropriate.

Ye Mo smiled. "No need. Real or not, you're my sister from now on. I'll treat you just like Ye Ling. No matter what, come to me. Remember, I'm your brother."

"Brother..." Tang Beiwei whispered, wiping her eyes. Unspoken words lingered. Had her prayers been answered? Had she finally found an older brother? Ye Mo's refusal of a DNA test left her uncertain whether to trust her instincts.

Ye Mo waved a hand. "I planned to visit Wuliang Mountain in a few days, but these people keep testing me. If I don't respond, they'll think I'm afraid. Beiwei, stay with me; I'll treat your mother."

"You can treat illnesses?" Tang Beiwei asked, surprised, recalling his morning use of acupuncture.

Before Ye Mo could reply, a voice interrupted.

"Fancy meeting you here! Master, what luck!" A Porsche screeched to a halt before them. A young man leaped out.

Ye Mo recognized him—the youth who'd challenged him to a race while he was with Jing Xi.

The youth shook Ye Mo's hand. "I'm Qiao Gang. I saw your driving that day—amazing! Is this your girlfriend? She's beautiful."

Qiao Gang was effusive, immediately treating Ye Mo as a fellow car enthusiast.

Ye Mo laughed. "I'm Ye Mo, and this is my sister, Tang Beiwei. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Qiao Gang's expression hinted at skepticism. Different surnames? He chuckled, his comment laced with a cynical implication about modern relationships. Hearing Ye Mo's introduction, he laughed. "Ah, I see. Brother Ye, I've been looking for you since I saw your driving skills. I heard your car was involved in an incident at Yu Yuan, but I never expected to see you here! I'm a car fanatic. If you're free, I'd love to treat you to a meal and discuss cars."

Ye Mo smiled. "That's kind, but I'm short on time. Let's talk another time."

Most people would have understood Ye Mo's disinterest, but Qiao Gang remained undeterred. "No problem. I'm fairly well-known here. If you need anything, just ask. I might need your help soon. Here's my card."

Qiao Gang handed Ye Mo his card, his hands rubbing together nervously. He was clearly awkward about soliciting Ye Mo's help, despite his outwardly gregarious nature. His approach was inappropriate given their brief acquaintance, but he'd witnessed Ye Mo's driving prowess. He knew he couldn't match Ye Mo's skill behind the wheel. To befriend him, he had to approach on equal terms.

He sensed that Ye Mo wasn't impressed by status or wealth; otherwise, he wouldn't have ignored Qiao Gang before. Knowing limited-edition car owners were rare, Qiao Gang humbled himself.

Ye Mo examined the card. He saw through Qiao Gang's superficiality. This wasn't impulsive behavior; it was cunning observation and shrewd communication. Intriguing, but not unpleasant. Perhaps Qiao Gang genuinely loved cars and sought a racing partner.

"I need some money; I'm going to get some. I'll call you if I'm free," Ye Mo said, intending to gauge Qiao Gang's helpfulness. He wouldn't mind assisting if Qiao Gang proved genuinely willing to help with his financial needs, but not otherwise.

Qiao Gang's face brightened. "Brother Ye, I have some disposable income. How much do you need?"

Ye Mo nodded casually. "What kind of help do you need?"

Qiao Gang's plan was revealed; he rubbed his hands awkwardly. "There's a race at the end of next month. It's important, but my skills aren't up to winning. If..."

Ye Mo understood. "What's the top prize?"

"It's just under a million, but the prize itself is secondary. There are other... complications. But..." Qiao Gang stammered, clearly hesitant about revealing the full details.

Ye Mo waved a hand. "I'll help you win. I'm only interested in the prize money. I need 500,000 now. I'll contact you by month's end."

Qiao Gang's face registered surprise and relief. He quickly slipped a card into Ye Mo's hand. "The PIN is eight eights. There's about 600,000. I'll await your call." Without waiting for Ye Mo's number, he sped away, the roar of his engine fading into the distance. Qiao Gang's recognition of Ye Mo's superior driving skills left him no doubt about his decision.

Ye Mo shook his head, amused by Qiao Gang's interesting character. Clearly wealthy, Qiao Gang didn't worry about a few hundred thousand, nor did he doubt Ye Mo's word. He acted quickly, decisively and astutely.

Tang Beiwei stared at Ye Mo, dazed. "Brother, you know him?" She realized how natural "brother" sounded.

Ye Mo shook his head. "No."

"Then why did he give you so much money? These people are powerful. If we offend him..." She trailed off, worried. Racing was dangerous.

Tang Beiwei's impoverished background made her fearful of wealthy young masters.

Ye Mo stroked her head gently. "It's okay. If I didn't need the money, I wouldn't care about a few hundred thousand. Let's eat, and we can talk later."

Tang Beiwei shook her head helplessly. She'd worked so hard for 200,000, nearly selling everything, yet her brother had acquired 600,000 with a single sentence.

After eating, Ye Mo bought 1,000 sets of materials for 200,000, bought Tang Beiwei some clothes, and gave her the remaining 300,000.

"I don't need money. I just want to save my mother," Tang Beiwei refused.

Ye Mo pressed the card into her hand. "You saw how easily I earn money. Take this for now. Call Wei Yongqian tomorrow, as planned."

Tang Beiwei hesitated, taking the card. "Brother, you know he's trying to harm you. Why are you taking the bait?"

Ye Mo sneered. "I know he's plotting against me. That's why I'm going. Don't worry."

Returning to their hotel, they found police investigating. He knew Wang Xianxian's case was under investigation. He immediately contacted Qiao Gang. A small favor like this shouldn't be difficult for him.
