Chapter 732: Who Is It?
A great heaven master could do as he pleased in Wu Wen City, but someone capable of instantly killing an earth-level tertiary-stage cultivator was no ordinary great heaven master.
“So you wanted to capture me?” Ye Mo suddenly asked the half-step great heaven master.
“No, no, senior, it’s because—” the half-step great heaven master stammered, fearing death.
Ye Mo continued in his flat tone, “Because I killed someone from the Taiyi Sect? Well, I like killing Taiyi Sect members. Which of you are from Taiyi? Tell me your names.”
“No, none of us are from Taiyi, except—” the half-step great heaven master said shakily.
“Then why are you still here? Get lost. I need to buy something in Wu Wen City, and if I see you again, I won’t be so lenient.” Ye Mo turned and left.
The five heaved a sigh of relief as Ye Mo departed.
“City Lord…”
“Ignore him. We need to report this to the Taiyi Sect immediately.”
Ye Mo gave almost all his gold cheques to Mu Xiaoyun. He only had about 70,000 gold coins left.
That was still enough to buy many things; not every herb was as expensive as blood cherries.
News of Ye Mo's actions spread rapidly. Everywhere he went, people avoided his gaze. Even glances were furtive.
Shopkeepers sold him herbs below import price, fearing his wrath.
Ye Mo was speechless. He was only targeting the Taiyi Sect. Since they lowered their prices, he wouldn't give them a better deal.
He bought many things in Wu Wen City, mostly fresh herbs.
Half a month later, Ye Mo left Wu Wen City, watched with worried eyes. Many people, however, secretly supported him for killing the oppressive Taiyi Sect members.
Taiyi Sect members had been targeted and killed in Wu Wen City, alerting the Taiyi Sect’s great heaven master. Other sects also rushed to Wu Wen City. Who dared be so bold? Someone had recently killed Gemini Sword Sect and Forgery Hall members; now someone was openly killing Taiyi Sect members in Wu Wen City.
Upon hearing this news, Yun Ziyi stood on a balcony for a long time before telling the green-dressed girl, “Xiao Ling, pack our things. I’m going to Ice Lake to see Elder Feng.”
She didn’t want to see Elder Feng, but Mo Ying. The Wu Wen City incident made her think of Mo Ying, knowing his interest in Wu Wen Mountain.
A few days later, in a secret room in Ice Lake, the aging Elder Feng sat on a soft mattress with Ji Yilan and Miao Lian.
“Mo Ying left?” Elder Feng asked calmly.
Ji Yilan stood, replying, “Yes, Grandmother. I persuaded him to go. He said he didn’t want to hinder Xiaoyun.”
“Why do I feel you’re hiding something?” Elder Feng’s calm tone held an undercurrent of authority.
“Sorry, Grandmother. Mo Ying… might be a herbal doctor,” Ji Yilan admitted, realizing she couldn’t hide it.
“What?” Elder Feng’s eyes widened, then she sat back down, hands trembling.
After a long pause, she said, “Why didn’t you tell me? Were you afraid I’d force him?”
Ji Yilan looked down. She knew her grandmother well—ruthless. If she knew Mo Ying was a herbal doctor, he’d never see the light of day again. He’d be forced to reveal his techniques and spend his life making pills for Ice Lake. Her grandmother would rather imprison or kill a herbal doctor than let him serve another sect.
Elder Feng’s face was green, her eyes shifty.
Ji Yilan knelt, “Grandmother, please don’t harm Xiaoyun. She didn’t know. She only met her husband two months ago.”
“You were afraid I’d trouble Mo Ying and cause Mu Xiaoyun to leave, so you hid it?” Elder Feng regained her composure.
“Yes. And I’m only guessing. He might not be a herbal doctor. I just heard Xiaoyun say he likes to add herbs to food, with beneficial effects,” Ji Yilan said cautiously.
Elder Feng sighed, “Yilan, get up. You’re too soft-hearted. I don’t know if letting you manage Ice Lake was the right decision.”
She paused. “Do you know what a herbal doctor means to a sect? If Mo Ying can mix herbs into food, he’s a herbal doctor, and a capable one. Yet you let him go.”
“Elder, Mo Ying is just an ordinary person—” Elder Feng waved her hand.
“Yilan, do you think a herbal doctor is an ordinary person?”
“I just heard that five days ago, someone killed Taiyi Sect members in Wu Wen City, claiming to target the Taiyi Sect. He killed them for a herb called blood cherry. And Mo Ying is a herbal doctor, so…”
Ji Yilan gasped, “Elder, that’s impossible. Mo Ying left five days ago. Even if he could fly, he couldn’t have reached Wu Wen City and killed those people.”
Elder Feng frowned, murmuring, “Impossible. He’s barely twenty. He couldn’t instantly kill an earth-level tertiary-stage cultivator. I was overthinking.”
Elder Feng asked, “How is Mu Xiaoyun’s progress?”
Ji Yilan beamed, “She’s very talented. In five days, she reached level two of the Star Rain cultivation method and the yellow level middle stage.”
“That fast? She’s a level one talent indeed!” Elder Feng was astonished.
Someone announced, “Grandmother, Sect Leader Yilan, the Magic Merchant Association’s Goddess Zi Hua is here.”
Elder Feng and Ji Yilan were surprised. Why would the acting leader of such a powerful organization visit Ice Lake?
“Goddess Zi Hua, please come in,” Elder Feng said.
Zi Hua entered, smiling.
Ji Yilan quickly rose, “It’s an honor to have Goddess Zi Hua in Ice Lake. Please have a seat.”
“Thank you.”
Miao Lian poured tea.
Ji Yilan smiled, “Sister Zi Hua is very busy. How did you find time to come to Ice Lake?”
Zi Hua smiled, “I met Mu Xiaoyun and her husband in Hang Shui, and I happened to be nearby, so I came to see them.”
Ji Yilan doubted Zi Hua came for Mo Ying—likely for Mu Xiaoyun. This made her wary. “Xiaoyun is cultivating diligently, and Mo Ying has left Ice Lake.”
“What?” Yun Ziyi spilled her tea in shock. Could it be him?
