Chapter 11: Where's My Birthday Present?
The ladies adored Raven. They all vied for his attention, but Gwen, with a glamorous dance, thrust herself into the spotlight. She was self-confident, certain Raven would choose her and give her the key.
Amid the cheers, Raven stared indifferently at Gwen and muttered, "I don't think any of them are good at dancing."
Gwen felt numb. Her hope and confidence shattered. The atmosphere grew awkward. No one expected Raven to be so ruthless.
"We all know the best dancer is North," one of the bosses said, attempting to alleviate the tension.
Everyone turned to look at North.
"Beautiful North," a wealthy businessman requested, "since young Master Raven said the others aren't good at dancing, why don't you perform a classic dance?"
North glanced at Raven, tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, and said, "I'm sorry, I'm feeling a bit sick today, so I won't be able to dance. I'll be in the restroom." She stood and left.
In the corridor, North breathed a sigh of relief. The atmosphere in the room had depressed her; she couldn't bear to stay.
A tall, young, and handsome man approached. "North, is that you? Do you remember me? I'm your high school classmate."
North stared at him, then smiled politely. "Hello."
"North! I haven't seen you for years. You're even more beautiful. I barely recognized you. I hope you're single, because I'm ready to pursue you." His gaze lingered on her body.
His enthusiasm embarrassed North. She started to speak, but a low, mellow voice interrupted.
"She already has a man."
The man turned to see Raven approaching. He stopped beside North.
The young man's expression changed drastically. As North's classmate, he remembered Raven, who fiercely guarded his sister. At reunions and parties, Raven always accompanied North, his strong, cold aura intimidating.
Still afraid of Raven, the young man smirked and mumbled, "Young Master Raven, hello. North, I have something to attend to." He excused himself.
North looked at Raven's handsome face. He pursed his lips, focusing on her serious expression.
"It doesn't matter if it's true or not, okay?" he said.
North shook her head. "I've forgotten about it already."
A mischievous smile curved Raven's lips. North trembled slightly. "What are you doing here?"
Raven swallowed hard. "Where's my birthday present?"
"Sorry, I've been so busy, I forgot to get you a birthday present."
Raven pursed his lips, a smile playing on them. "Are you unhappy? I saw a mountain of gifts for you. Do you still need mine? Tell me what you like, and I'll have my assistant get it." His eyes were dark and lazy.
"You don't know what I like? If you want to know, come to my room tonight."
North stared at him furiously. "Raven, are you short of women? Why are you bothering me?"
"Let's forget the past. I want a good life. I'm young; my life has just begun. I don't want to ruin it. Choose any woman you want. And when I find a good man, we'll get married and have children. We'll all live peacefully, okay?"
Raven scoffed. "I'll never let any man have you, let alone marry you and have children with you."
"Then there's nothing to talk about. I'm leaving." North turned to go to the restroom. At the men's restroom door, a hand grabbed her arm and pulled her inside.
She slammed against a warm chest. Looking up, she met Raven's face.
"Why did you pull me into the men's restroom? You wouldn't be so perverted as to make me watch you urinate, would you?" She pushed against his chest.
Raven put his arm around her waist. His lips curled. "Urinate? Is that what you learned in the entertainment industry?"
"What else would your elegant Pamela say?" North challenged, trying to annoy him.
Raven pulled her close, brushing her curly hair from her face. He tightened his grip. "Why are you always mentioning Pamela? Of course, Pamela isn't like you. She always knows how to seduce men…"
North kicked his leg. "Then go find Pamela. She's pure and classy. Don't use me to vent your frustrations if you can't get her!"
