Chapter 185: Olive Is Really Terrifying
Patrick and Monica couldn't wait any longer. Standing up, they confronted Olive.
“Olive, there’s no need to lie anymore. Do you know how much it costs to study at Imperial? I’ve never given you a cent, so where did you get the money?” Patrick questioned mockingly.
“How can you study without money? Your story is full of loopholes. No one should believe her!” Monica added.
Olive looked at the shameless pair. She chuckled and shook her head slightly.
“Oh, so you two know you’ve never given me a penny. Yes, you’re both right; it’s quite expensive to study at a university. I know you both have firsthand knowledge of the cost, especially since your daughter, Pamela, not only attended university but also studied outside of North America. That must have cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars.”
Patrick and Monica were immediately silenced. They hadn’t expected Olive to turn the conversation against them. Reporters turned their microphones toward the couple.
“Patrick, that was really cruel. You had two daughters; why did you only send Pamela to university?”
Olive scoffed and added, “Mr. and Mrs. Hart, child neglect is a crime. Should I be lenient if I press charges?”
Patrick and Monica were instantly frightened. They knew they would be in serious trouble if Olive filed a lawsuit.
Olive’s clear eyes flashed with a cold sneer. Her powerful voice cut through the room.
“You both should shut up and sit down.”
Immediately, Patrick and Monica were reprimanded. Their legs wobbled, and they quickly slumped back into their chairs. Disheartened, they had lost to Olive.
Pamela clenched her fist. She hadn’t expected Olive to handle her parents so easily. “Olive, don’t change the subject. Please answer my question!”
Olive’s calm gaze fell on Pamela. “I hadn’t even taken the high school final examination.”
It had been rumored that Olive only graduated from high school. Now, she revealed she hadn't even taken the graduation exam. Olive looked at the agitated crowd, then back at Pamela, whose face lit up with glee at the news.
“Isn’t it amazing? I really didn’t take my final examination, nor the entrance examination, because I was sent to the Imperial Medical University at the age of thirteen.”
The noisy hall instantly fell silent. Everyone’s eyes widened in shock.
What did she just say?
“I didn’t get a double postdoctoral degree at the age of twenty. I got it at fifteen,” Olive added, eliciting loud gasps of amazement.
“And Mr. Hart, I didn’t pay for my studies. I was offered a scholarship to the University of Imperial. So, I didn’t have to spend a cent.” Olive smiled proudly at the embarrassed duo.
“I received a double postdoctoral degree at fifteen. However, the medical university was unwilling to let me go, so I stayed for three years. And guess what happened during those three years? I rescued a man on the street in Imperial, and then returned to LA to marry my Mr. Augustine.” Olive explained with a smirk.
She had detailed her educational journey but carefully omitted the events of the last three years—extremely confidential information she didn’t dare disclose.
Silence engulfed the hall. Pamela felt weakened, as if her world had shattered. It turned out Olive didn't just graduate from high school; she was a fifteen-year-old postdoctoral degree holder! What a talented girl!
Patrick and Monica’s faces were ashen. They looked at Olive as if wishing her to vanish. Was this still the Olive they knew? She was definitely not human!
Dean Sebastian, satisfied with everyone's expressions, coughed. “Now that everyone knows of Olive’s academic qualifications, I’m highly honored to have her with us today. This is the end of the press conference. Thank you all for coming.”
The press conference was over, but the interview session continued. The crowd surged forward, immediately surrounding Olive.
Bounty walked over and muttered proudly, “Olive, congratulations. You deserved this spotlight long ago.”
“Thank you, Aunt,” Olive laughed sweetly.
The media scrambled to hand a microphone to Bounty. “Principal Augustine, you actually know Olive too? Did you know about her academic qualifications beforehand?”
Bounty looked at the camera and nodded elegantly. “Olive is such a talented girl in the medical field; how could I not know her? The year Olive graduated at fifteen, I personally invited her as the first Los Angeles citizen to Holy Nile, but she felt it was too far from home, so she refused.”
“Principal Augustine, wasn’t Pamela the first Los Angeles citizen invited to study at Holy Nile Academy?”
Pamela stared at Olive and Bounty with jealousy and viciousness. Bounty also saw Pamela. She turned to the camera. “No, Olive was the first invited to Holy Nile Academy. As for Pamela, someone pushed her… and I only accepted her out of favor.”
The passage has been cleaned up for grammar, punctuation, and style. There were a few inconsistencies and unclear sentences that have been corrected. The overly repetitive phrasing has been reduced for a smoother read. The fragmented sentence at the very end has been removed as it was not grammatically correct or understandable within the context.
