Chapter 79: The Gathering of LA's Celebrities
Pamela and Gwen had heard that a mysterious buyer had purchased the last Onlylove necklace. Pamela was consumed by jealousy when she saw Olive wearing it.
"Olive," Pamela demanded, "who gave you that necklace?"
Olive touched the necklace, now visible. "So you know about Onlylove," she replied, her gaze fixed on Pamela. "And you want to know who gave it to me? Don't you?"
Lowering her voice, Olive muttered, "Stop deceiving yourself. Whoever you think gave it to me, did not."
Olive then left the pharmacy, leaving Pamela stunned and furious. She knew the necklace was from Elvis. Her anger intensified, fueled by Olive's newfound popularity with the students and now this gift from Elvis. It was too much.
Greg approached. "Pamela," he said.
Pamela ignored him and left. In the past, she had found Greg somewhat valuable, but now, his perceived inadequacy made him unworthy of her time.
Pamela checked her social media. Olive was trending. Comments like, "Olive passed Director Hudson's test! Olive is a devil!" and "From today, I declare myself an Olivite! Olive knows how to deal with anyone who messes with her. #teamOlivite" flooded her feed. Pamela clicked on Olive's account, noticing a dramatic increase in followers—from twelve million to over eighteen million in just a few days. Olive's fans were posting constantly, tagging her in everything. Pamela gripped her phone so tightly she almost smashed it against the wall, but a ringing phone interrupted her. It was Gwen.
"Hello, Gwen," Pamela answered.
"Pamela, did Olive really pass the test? How did she memorize twelve thousand medicinal substances? I don't believe it!" Gwen exclaimed, frustrated.
"Gwen, that's not important. Let's do something fun. KissLand bar tonight? Invite all the usual crowd," Pamela suggested, changing the subject.
"Pamela, are you really in the mood for fun?" Gwen asked incredulously.
"Gwen, don't you love Onlylove? All the ladies in LA love Onlylove," Pamela said.
"Wait, you know who the mysterious buyer is? Did you see the necklace?" Gwen's tone shifted to excitement.
Pamela laughed. "Yeah, invite everyone tonight. They'll love seeing an Onlylove necklace."
Olive received a call from North. "Olive, the ladies in LA are having a hangout at KissLand bar tonight. They invited us. Are you coming?" North asked.
"All the LA celebrities are gathering? Of course, I'm going," Olive replied.
"Great!"
At KissLand bar—a Heaven family property—Gwen had reserved a beautiful room. LA's celebrities, all glamorously dressed, were gathered.
"Pamela," a movie star asked, "you said you're showing us your Onlylove necklace. Is that true? It sold out to a mysterious buyer, didn't it? Have you figured out who bought it?"
Another celebrity chimed in, "How old is the buyer? Handsome? Wealthy?"
The celebrities were fascinated by Onlylove, fiercely competitive in acquiring the latest luxury goods. While North, as a model for many high-end brands, had access, others had to compete relentlessly.
Gwen pulled Pamela aside. "Pamela, you said you'd show us Onlylove, but where is it?"
Pamela checked her watch. "Don't worry, it should be here soon."
The door opened, and Olive and North entered. The socialites, anticipating their arrival, were prepared not to feel jealous or envious. Olive, still in her white uniform shirt, black bow tie, and black high-waisted skirt from the research institute, and North, in a vintage royal top and blue jeans, apologized for their lateness and sat down.
Pamela quickly took center stage. "Olive, North, you're here! We've been waiting…"
