Natalia’s POV
When I opened my eyes, I was in a hospital room. The last thing I remembered was stomach pain. Panicked, I sat up and reached for my hand—
“Don’t worry,” Dr. Reid’s voice reached my ears. “Your babies are perfectly fine.”
I turned to see him reviewing what looked like reports.
“D-did Adrian bring me here?” I asked.
He placed the papers on the small bedside table and approached me. “Yes, but he’s already gone.”
“Does he know?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
“Not unless you told him.”
I exhaled, relaxing. However, a thought struck me. Dr. Reid was the chief physician at the pack hospital, so he was close to Adrian. He would likely share my news.
“Dr. Reid, may I ask you something?”
“Of course.”
“Please, don’t tell Adrian about my babies.”
His eyebrows rose. “You haven’t told him yet?”
“No, and I never will.”
“But, Natalia, they’re Adrian’s heirs, the future of this pack—”
“No. He’ll never accept them, which means I need to protect them from him. I’m begging you, please don’t tell him.”
He was silent for a long, unsettling moment, his expression unreadable. Then he nodded, his brow furrowed with worry. “All right.”
I shook my head. “I’m leaving the pack.”
His eyes widened, then he controlled his shock. “But that means you’ll become a rogue. That’s risky.”
“Yes, but I have no choice.”
He shook his head. “Natalia, given the circumstances, you must proceed with extreme caution.”
“I know. But it’s better than staying here in danger and pain.”
Shortly after my conversation with Dr. Reid, I left the hospital. Adrian had brought me there, so I looked for his car—he’d given it to me years ago—but I couldn’t find it. I couldn’t call a cab without my phone. Thankfully, I eventually spotted one.
When I told the driver to take me to the pack house, I saw fear in his eyes. “Pack house?” he questioned skeptically.
Undeterred, I politely repeated my request.
When the cab reached the pack house’s gate, the security guards stopped the vehicle and inspected it. To my surprise, they bowed upon recognizing me. The cabbie was startled.
A moment later, they opened the gate. Excited, the cabbie drove up the long driveway to the palace-like pack house belonging to Alpha Adrian’s parents. I understood his excitement; I’d felt the same way. It was a dream for every pack member to see this house. I couldn't believe I'd be leaving it soon.
After the cab stopped, security guards rushed to open the door for me. Then I realized I had no money. One of the guards paid the fare, and I thanked them before entering the house.
Inside, the servants bowed and offered me a seat in the living room.
“Where is Alpha Adrian?” I asked. “Please tell him I need to speak with him. It’s urgent.”
She went upstairs to call him.
While I waited, Alpha Adrian’s father, Alpha Lucas Miller, confidently descended the stairs. A strong man in his late forties, he looked capable of anything.
I stood and bowed. “Alpha.”
Alpha Miller had always been kind to me. He often praised my generosity and management skills.
“My dear Natalia, why do you look so distraught? Did Adrian bully you again? I’ll scold that rascal,” he said angrily.
“We’re divorcing, Alpha,” I said to prevent any rash action.
His eyes widened. I understood; this was unexpected. Members were required to see both Alpha and Luna to dissolve their connection with the pack, so I added, “And I need Luna here too.”
