Chapter 1014: Because of This Evil Woman

Lucian glanced indifferently at Archie and Benny. A strange feeling washed over them as they met his gaze. The look in their father's eyes seemed to have changed; he barely met their gaze before quickly looking away.

"Mr. Farwell?" Benny ventured. Lucian merely nodded slightly. "Ms. Ward will wait with you both." He extended his hand to Estella.

Estella hesitated, sensing her father's anger, but eventually took his hand. Archie and Benny watched helplessly as Lucian and Estella left.

"Is Daddy mad at Mommy, Archie?" Benny asked pitifully.

Archie remained expressionless, but disappointment flickered in his eyes. Lucian always stayed by Roxanne's side when she was ill, but this time, she hadn't even inquired about his condition. He must be very disappointed.

Lucian drove away with Estella. He glanced at Archie and Benny at the kindergarten gates before starting the car. Once they were some distance away, Estella asked, "Are you mad at Ms. Jarvis, Daddy?"

Lucian's brow furrowed, but he didn't answer. He guessed what she meant but wasn't in the mood to discuss it.

Unaware of his thoughts, Estella continued in a sweet voice, "She didn't mean to avoid visiting you. She must have been busy with work." Though sad about not seeing Roxanne, she tried to comfort him. She worried that if her father was also angry, their reconciliation would be further delayed. She still longed for Roxanne to be her mother.

Lucian wasn't surprised. In the past, he would have reassured her, but this time, he merely frowned. His voice was cold. "We'll talk about this another day."

His evasiveness was clear. Estella's cheeks puffed up, but she remained silent, glowering at him. Daddy must be angry at Ms. Jarvis, she thought. What can I do to make them reconcile?

Before she could devise a plan, the car stopped before the Farwell residence. Lucian carried Estella out of the car. As they approached the mansion, Aubree opened the door and emerged.

Lucian's expression shifted. Estella was equally shocked. Don't tell me Daddy's suddenly angry at Ms. Jarvis because of this evil woman!

"Lucian, Essie, you're back," Aubree said brightly, seemingly oblivious to their changed expressions. Catalina, looking exasperated, followed behind her. Aubree had arrived unexpectedly that afternoon, claiming to check on Lucian's recovery. Lucian couldn't remove her, so he had allowed her to stay.
