Chapter 1015: Without a Hint of Concern

Lucian merely tilted his head at Aubree apathetically before escorting Estella into the mansion. Behind them, Aubree's eyes flashed.

From what I know, Roxanne and Lucian hadn't met since that night. It's evident that she knew her place and gave up. This opportunity to secure my position as the future mistress of the Farwell family must be seized!

Lucian remained indifferent, but she wasn't deterred. Seeing them enter the mansion, she hurriedly followed. "Is something the matter?"

Lucian, having returned Estella to her room, was descending the stairs. He regarded the woman at the door with detachment.

Halting, Aubree smiled. "Mrs. Farwell asked me to check on you." Lucian's gaze had already shifted away. "I've recovered. Tell her not to worry."

Aubree tried to speak, but he dismissed her. "If there's nothing else, you may leave." Aubree froze. "Butโ€”"

How could I possibly leave without even attempting anything?

Lucian's gaze swept over her. "My mother asked you to check on me? You've seen me; tell her I'm fine."

He withdrew his gaze, his indifference causing Aubree to grit her teeth. I must find a way to draw closer to him!

She glanced at the stairs, then smiled. "You're right. I'll leave you to it. Excuse me."

Lucian nodded noncommittally. Aubree smiled, then whirled toward the door. Unexpectedly, her foot slipped on the stairs.

"Ahh!" A shriek echoed. Catalina rushed out.

She found Aubree sitting on the ground, curled into a ball, cradling her ankle and hissing in pain. "What's wrong, Ms. Pearson?"

Catalina rushed to help, but Aubree kept her head down, eyes fixed on her ankle, sweat beading on her forehead.

Panicked, Catalina called for Lucian. "Mr. Farwell, quickly, come and have a look!"

Lucian appeared at the door. He stared at the woman on the ground. "What happened?"

Aubree lifted her head, pain etched on her face, forcing a smile. "It's nothing. I justโ€ฆ"

She tried to stand, but excruciating pain shot through her leg. Unstable, she almost fell.

Catalina reacted too late. Just as Aubree was about to fall, a hand appearedโ€”Lucian's.

"Don't force yourself."

Frowning, Lucian impassively supported her elbow, helping her to her feet. His tone remained devoid of concern. Once she was steady, he dropped her arm. "Help Ms. Pearson inside," he ordered Catalina.
