Chapter 1084: Do Not Kick Up a Fuss

After escorting Sonya out, Lucian went upstairs to check on Estella, who seemed upset upon returning home. Catalina was with Estella. Seeing Lucian, she discreetly stepped out of the bedroom. Standing at the doorway, Lucian asked with concern, "How's Essie?"

Catalina replied softly, "She's been quiet. I'm not sure what she's thinking, but she hasn't cried or thrown a tantrum." Lucian nodded and entered the bedroom.

Estella appeared distracted, not even noticing his arrival. Lucian approached and gently tousled her hair. "What are you thinking about?"

Estella was desperately trying to devise a plan to ensure her father continued pursuing Roxanne. Looking up, she greeted him, "D-Daddy."

Lucian sat beside her. "Are you angry I brought you home from Ms. Jarvis'?"

Estella nodded, her lips pursed. "Then why aren't you crying?" Lucian raised an eyebrow. "Becauseโ€”"

She started to speak, then realized revealing her plan would likely fail, and might even prevent her from seeing the brothers. She quickly covered her mouth, refusing to continue. "You can't tell me?" A hint of suspicion flickered in Lucian's eyes.

Still covering her mouth, Estella nodded vigorously. Lucian didn't press the issue, instead asking about her relationship with Sonya.

"Anyway, why are you mad at Grandma?" Estella finally removed her hands.

She hadn't told him about Sonya's threats. She was also angry about Sonya preventing her from seeing Ms. Jarvis and the brothers, and Sonya's disapproval of her father's relationship with Roxanne. The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. Lucian, observing her expression, grew more confused. It seemed Essie harbored deep resentment toward her grandmother.

Finally deciding what to say, Estella said in a small voice, "Because... Grandma is very fierce!" She sounded utterly pitiful.

Lucian wasn't surprised; he knew about Sonya's attempts to keep him and Estella away from Roxanne. However, he sensed there was more to Estella's resentment.

He didn't push her to explain, as she clearly wasn't ready. All that mattered was calming her down. He stood, stroking her head. "I understand. I'll talk to Grandma about it."

Just before leaving, he remembered something. "For the next two days, I'll have Ms. Pearson spend time with you. Remember to behave and don't kick up a fuss."

Lucian closed the door, preventing Estella from protesting. Inside, Estella's face fell. I only want Daddy to be with Ms. Jarvis and not that nasty woman.
