Chapter 1102: A Rare Opportunity

By the time they reached the Farwell residence, Lucian remained asleep. Cayden supported him into the mansion. Ascending the stairs, Cayden stumbled slightly, prompting an immediate rebuke from Aubree: "Watch it!" He remained silent, accepting responsibility.

Meanwhile, Estella awaited in her room, eager to speak with her father. Hearing Aubree's voice, she sensed something, and cautiously peeked from her doorway. Seeing Cayden assisting Lucian, she rushed over, anxiously tugging at Lucian's sleeve. "Daddy?"

Aubree, still buoyant from the car ride, saw the girl's concern. Smiling reassuringly, she explained, "Your daddy had too much to drink, but don't worry. I'll take good care of him." Estella ignored her, instead fixing her gaze on Cayden, awaiting an explanation. Aubree's smile faltered as she followed Estella's gaze.

Cayden felt helpless under their scrutiny. Considering Estella's feelings, he echoed Aubree's words. "Ms. Estella, Mr. Farwell simply had too much to drink. He'll be fine after a good night's rest. It's late; you should go to bed."

Estella pressed her lips together, stubbornly following. The last time Daddy was ill, he wouldn't let me care for him. This time, I will, she resolved.

Watching the girl follow them into Lucian's bedroom, Aubree subtly furrowed her brows. "I'll stay here," she said to Cayden. "You can take her to her room."

He hesitated. Mr. Farwell instructed me to come. If she harms him while I'm gone, how will I explain it?

Estella, uncooperative, clung to Lucian's shirt, firmly refusing. "I don't want to! I want to stay with Daddy!"

Aubree's jaw tightened, seeing their defiance. Quickly adjusting her expression, she crouched before Estella, smiling brightly. "Be a good girl, Essie. Your daddy is asleep; there's nothing you can do. Go rest."

Looking at Lucian, Estella saw he was indeed fast asleep.

Cayden intervened, "Ms. Estella, it's late. I'll take you to your room."

Though reluctant, Estella nodded obediently. Leaving, she glanced back at Lucian every few steps, ensuring he remained asleep, before slowly following Cayden.

Only Lucian and Aubree remained. Her gaze, reflecting numerous thoughts, fell upon the sleeping man. We're alone. A rare opportunity. With the right approach, I'll be Mrs. Farwell by morning. Lucian will have no choice but to yield. But it's risky. If he wakes, my plan fails.

Aubree weighed the options. Unable to resist the temptation of becoming Lucian's wife, she slowly approached the bed.

"Lucian," she murmured, "you must be uncomfortable sleeping like this. Let me help you."
