Chapter 1104: You Stayed With Me All Night

Aubree spent the night in the same guest room she had occupied during her previous visit. Entering the room, she couldn't help but recall her actions last time. A fleeting thoughtโ€”to use the same method to โ€œteach that little b*tch another lessonโ€โ€”crossed her mind, but the fear of Lucian discovering her actions ultimately prevailed. With her newfound hope, she couldn't bear the thought of jeopardizing it through another mistake.

As she lay in bed, the scene from Lucian's bedroom replayed in her head. She had been so close to becoming Mrs. Farwell! If only Cayden hadn't appeared! Aubree waited all night for Cayden to tell her Lucian had woken. The sun was high when he still hadn't come. Cayden's attitude from the previous night made her grit her teeth. She freshened up and knocked on Lucian's door.

"Lucian, are you awake? It's me, Aubree."

Footsteps sounded. Cayden opened the door. "Ms. Pearson, Mr. Farwell hasn't woken yet. If you're awake, you can go back."

Aubree frowned. "In that case, I'll wait for Lucian to wake up before leaving. Otherwise, I'll be worried."

"There's a company meeting soon," Cayden lied smoothly. "Mr. Farwell will likely head to the company when he wakes." He was subtly dismissing her.

Aubree, however, didn't seem to grasp this. She entered the bedroom. Lucian slept soundly, his brow furrowed, perhaps from a hangover.

"Lucian?" Aubree called softly.

Receiving no response, she reached out, intending to smooth his brow. Before her hand touched his face, he opened his bloodshot eyes. His voice was raspy.

"What are you doing?"

Lucian regarded her with the wary indifference of a man just awakened, his memory of the previous night hazy. Aubree's hand froze. Meeting his guarded gaze, she felt guilty. "I... I noticed you were frowning, so I thought of helping youโ€”"

"That won't be necessary," he interrupted coldly.

He sat up, a splitting headache blossoming as memories returned. He'd drunk with Jonathan, gotten drunk, and called Aubree.

Lucian pinched his brow, his expression softening. "You stayed here with me all night?"

Aubree, despite her stiffness, smiled. "I couldn't help but worry. It's unusual for you to ask me to take care of you." She'd hoped this would elicit some affection, but instead, he asked, "Where's Cayden?"

Aubree choked slightly, turning so he could see the doorway. Cayden stepped forward. "Mr. Farwell."

Lucian's relief at confirming he hadn't spent the night alone with Aubree was evident in his silent nod.

Cayden checked the time. "Mr. Farwell, it's time for Ms. Estella to go to school." He was unaware Estella had changed schools.
