Chapter 1132

The two were engrossed in conversation, oblivious to Coryโ€™s approach from around the corner across the street. He grinned as he reviewed the photograph he'd just taken. Though Roxanne hadn't been close to Jack earlier, the angle made it appear as if they were embracing. After reviewing his shots, he selected two and sent them to Aubree.

Meanwhile, Aubree strolled the streets with Frieda. The Pearson residence was far from Estella's kindergarten, and Aubree preferred not to travel that distance, especially since she needed to speak with Frieda.

"Are you saying it's highly likely Lucian broke up with Roxanne because of Jack?"

Frieda, though attentive, remained perplexed. "Even if Jack is a wonderful man, he's no Lucian. Is it really necessary for Lucian to give up on her just because of Jack?"

Aubree hummed thoughtfully. "That's what I've been questioning, which is why I sent Cory to investigate."

Their conversation was interrupted by Aubree's phone buzzing. She checked the screen; two photos from Cory. Roxanne and Jack appeared intimately close.

"Are they dating?" Frieda exclaimed, startled.

Her reaction was unsurprising; anyone seeing the photos would think the same. Even Aubree stiffened before replying coldly, "No, I don't think so." She then showed Frieda the earlier photos Cory had taken.

The more Frieda saw, the more confused she became. "If they aren't a couple, they're spending an awful lot of time together. And some of these actions look quite intimate..."

A knowing smile touched Aubree's lips. "If you're misinterpreting their relationship, imagine how others will react to these photos."

"What do you mean?" Frieda asked, confused.

A ruthless glint appeared in Aubree's eyes. "Whether or not they separated because of Jack, I can use these photos to drive a wedge between Roxanne and Lucian!" As long as everyone believes Roxanne is involved with Jack, Lucian will never return to her.

Frieda sensed Aubree's plan but waited for confirmation. She tensed; even without action, the risk was evident.

"Aubree," Frieda began nervously. "Are you really planning to release these photos?" She continued softly, "I just hope you remember what happened to the Hightower family..."

If Lucian truly ended things with Roxanne, Aubree's plan would be effective. But if he harbored any regret, the photos might pique his interest and lead to an investigation. Frieda feared the consequencesโ€”a repeat of the Hightowers' downfall.

Aubree frowned in irritation. "Of course not. Why would I be that stupid?" She wouldn't initiate the release herself.
