Chapter 1180
Oblivious to Lucian's thoughts, the specialists cautiously explained the situation. "Ms. Jarvis's brain waves fluctuated when you spoke to her, but not enough to rouse her. Greater stimulation is needed."
The instant Lucian heard Roxanne's brain waves responded to his voice, his furrowed brows relaxed imperceptibly. A specialist ventured, "Do you know anyone or anything she cares deeply about?" Lucian nodded. She was most concerned about Archie and Benny.
Relief washed over the specialists. They were about to suggest having the children speak to her when Lucian coldly interrupted. "They're children. I don't want them involved unless absolutely necessary."
The specialists, understanding the potential distress for the children, nodded in agreement. They couldn't think of another approach.
After a moment's silence, Lucian declared, "I'll try again." No one dared object.
He strode into the hospital room, stopping beside Roxanne. "Cayden has taken Archie and Benny home. They're waiting for you. How much longer will you keep them waiting?"
Outside, the specialists watched in shock as Roxanne's brain waves violently fluctuated. They couldn't hear Lucian, but his words clearly had an effect.
In a solemn voice, Lucian stated, "You're their only parent. What will become of them if you don't wake up?" Again, Roxanne's brain waves reacted significantly. "Then there's Essie," he continued. "You promised to visit her. She's been waiting, wanting to see you. When will you keep your promise?"
Despite his plea, Roxanne remained unresponsive. His brows deepened, his gaze darkening. After a long silence, he urged, "Hurry and wake up. I'll do anything. You've been avoiding me. If you wake up, I promise never againโฆ"
A flicker of despair crossed his eyes as he vowed, "As long as you wake up, I promise never to appear before you or allow anyone to disrupt your life."
Outside, the experts watched the erratic fluctuations on the monitor. They repeatedly peered into the room, but despite the significant brainwave activity, Roxanne remained unconscious.
Just as they were about to inform Lucian, the door swung open, revealing a grim-faced Lucian. The chill radiating from him silenced everyone. Moments before, they had considered approaching him; now, they hesitated.
"M-Mr. Farwellโฆ" Zayne stammered, fear evident in his voice.
"Your method is ineffective!" Lucian scoffed icily. "I spoke at length, but she showed no response. If I stay any longer, I can't guarantee my actions!"
