Chapter 1189
Slowly, Roxanne squatted to touch the little girl's head. She noticed the girl smiling. Roxanne's nose stung. She wanted to apologize, but a lump in her throat prevented her.
"Get out quickly, Mommy. You'll see me when you wake up!" the girl urged, tilting her head.
Roxanne's eyes trembled. My daughter died long ago... How will I see her again? The little girl gave her an urgent push. Archie and Benny's cries reached her ears.
After hesitating, Roxanne stood. Before leaving, she looked back at the tiny figure. The little girl waved. Roxanne forced a smile and went to the door.
"Mommy!"
The children's cries grew clearer.
Roxanne slowly opened her eyes, staring at the glaring white ceiling with tear-filled eyes. "She's awake! Ms. Jarvis is awake!"
The specialists waiting by the door stared intently. The moment she opened her eyes, they cheered. Lucian, too, noticed, disbelief flooding him. He only snapped back to reality upon hearing the specialists' voices. She's awake? He'd almost lost hope.
The three children gripped her hands tightly. Slowly, Roxanne regained her senses. Even dazed, she heard a little girl's cry. Remembering the dream, she widened her eyes and looked towards the sound. It was a tearful Estella, crying "Mommy" with the boys.
A self-deprecating smile touched Roxanne's lips. My daughter died long ago. Why am I still having these visions?
Archie, though crying, was more composed than his siblings. Seeing Roxanne awake, he burst into tears, throwing himself into her embrace. "Mommy, you're finally awake!" The other two children followed suit.
Roxanne hugged them back. Though she knew Estella wasn't her deceased daughter, she'd always treated her as her own. "There, there. Stop crying. I'm fine. Sorry for scaring you. It's my fault," she comforted them weakly. Their continued crying ached her heart.
A deep, hoarse voice rang out. "Do you know how long you've been sleeping?"
Roxanne stiffened, noticing Lucian. I must've lost my mind. How could the children be here without Lucian?
"Mr. Farwell..." Roxanne slowly released the children, giving him a conflicted look. He looked extremely restless and frustratedโhaggard in a way she'd never seen.
