Chapter 1345
โDaddy, why are you here?โ Estella asked her father, her gaze curious. Roxanne was surprised by his swift arrival; she'd thought he was angry. Her question reminded Roxanne of something. Suppressing her embarrassment, she gave Archie and Benny a stern look, questioning which of them had texted Lucian. It couldn't have been Estella, so it must have been one of the boys.
โIt wasnโt us!โ Benny exclaimed, a chill running down his spine. He adopted an innocent expression. โIf you donโt believe us, ask Mr. Farwell!โ He turned to Lucian, who nodded readily. โI came here myself.โ
Roxanne frowned, suspicion filling her eyes. The thought of their developing relationship, even without knowing they were related, was worrying. Knowing Roxanne suspected him, Benny offered an innocent smile and changed the subject. โMommy, Iโm freezing!โ
Roxanne couldn't scold them, so she looked at Lucian. He was the only one who could buy the children clothes. Before she could ask, Lucian said, โI have clothes in the car you can change into.โ
Roxanneโs suspicion grew. How could it be such a coincidence? As if reading her thoughts, Lucian arched a brow. โDonโt forget I brought you here after your return six years ago. This was my territory. Is there something wrong with me being here?โ
Roxanne was speechless. His clear explanation prevented her from further probing; she didn't want to appear calculating.
โPerhaps this is fate,โ Lucian remarked with a smile, gently pushing Archie and Benny. โCome, let's change your clothes.โ
The boys obediently followed him to the car. While changing, Benny asked in surprise, โMr. Farwell, why are you here?โ They were soaked, and changing into dry clothes was difficult. Lucian had brought clothes but forgotten towels. He used his suit jacket to dry them; the expensive material was less than ideal, but better than nothing.
Lucian chuckled at Bennyโs question. โYou sent me your location, didnโt you?โ
Benny grinned guiltily. โYou didnโt answer, so I thoughtโฆโ he trailed off. I thought heโs mad at Mommy!
Lucian guessed his thoughts. โYou thought Iโm angry at your mother because she rejected me?โ
Benny chuckled sheepishly. Archie remained unfazed. โAre you upset?โ
Lucian, taken aback by Archieโs directness, paused before replying. โNo. Our past was a misunderstanding, entirely my fault. I want to win her back, nothing more.โ A gentle smile touched his lips as he looked at the boys. โYouโll help me, right?โ
Benny nodded eagerly, explaining Roxanneโs earlier mood. โIt was my fault for making her angry,โ he admitted.
Lucian finally understood Bennyโs summons and felt pleased to help. โAll right, Iโll handle this. Donโt worry, Iโll cheer her up.โ
