Chapter 1387

It took Jack and Roxanne some time to pacify and calm the elderly man. Afterward, they continued treating the other elderly patients. Initially, the elderly patients were drawn to Roxanne's appearance and gentle demeanor, curious about her relationship with Jack. However, after witnessing their care for the first man, their perception of the duo shifted. During consultations, the patients eagerly detailed their health concerns, many discussing even minor daily issues, hoping Roxanne and Jack could restore their health. The pair found themselves with increasingly heavier workloads.

Once the sessions concluded, Roxanne was exhausted. "How do you feel?" Jack asked, equally tired. He grabbed a water bottle and sat beside her. Wiping the sweat from her forehead, she took a sip, then turned back to the smiling patients, a look of relief in her eyes. "I'm tired, but I don't mind it as long as these people get healthy," she said. That was, after all, the purpose of her trip. As the words left her lips, she recalled Jack's earlier technique, a thoughtful expression crossing her face.

Seemingly anticipating her question, Jack smiled and asked, "Anything you want to ask about the Damaris family's Root Thirteen?" A solemn expression appeared on Roxanne's face as they discussed their profession. "Where did you insert the last six needles? I understand the initial placementsโ€”the acupuncture points were complementaryโ€”but the last six weren't in traditional points, were they?"

A wave of admiration, followed by a surge of determination, washed over Jack. The woman is so quick to grasp new medical knowledge. I mustn't let her go so easily. Despite these thoughts, he maintained a composed expression. He explained patiently, "You're right, the last six needles weren't placed in standard acupuncture points. Their placement depends on the patient's condition. It's complicated to explain now, but it's detailed in a book. I'll send it to you when we return."

Though vague, Roxanne surmised the book was the Damaris family's generations-old medical text, containing far more than just Root Thirteen. Realizing this, she gasped and demurred. "No, it's fine. Please, just explain it to me later when you're free. That book must be very important to the Damaris family, so it's best not to lend it to someone like me."

Jack remained unfazed. "It's my grandfather's wish as well. Medical knowledge shouldn't belong to only one family. It's our honor to share the Damaris family's knowledge with an excellent doctor like you."

Roxanne's resolve wavered. She was interested in the Damaris family's knowledge, but always felt it belonged solely to them. She would be delighted and honored to receive it, yet also apprehensive. She wondered if she could bear the weight of Hector's admiration.

"My grandfather said the Damaris family's medical knowledge should be shared with the world. The more people who understand it, the more patients can be cured. It's his wish," Jack said softly.

Roxanne considered this for a long time before nodding gratefully. "I understand. I'll study the book as diligently as I can."
