Chapter 1394

Lucian was still talking. “It has already happened. If you want to blame someone, blame me. I lost control.”

Roxanne covered her face, embarrassed. “Stop talking. Please leave and let me cool down.”

Seeing her embarrassment, a hint of a smile touched Lucian’s lips, but it vanished instantly, replaced by his usual serious expression. “But now that I think about it, your response last night was rather strange. Do you not remember anything?”

Roxanne covered her face, trying to recall what happened. She could only remember her own drunken foolishness. Lucian’s figure flickered in her memory, but the details remained elusive. If not for the marks on their bodies and the soreness in her waist, she wouldn’t have guessed what transpired.

After a time, defeated, she shook her head. “I can’t remember anything.”

Lucian frowned. “How about now? Is your body feeling alright? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?”

Roxanne immediately thought of her aching waist. Even if I did initiate things last night, I can’t believe Lucian is such a beast! Every movement sent a jolt of pain through her. But she was too embarrassed to mention it, her face flushing crimson. “No,” she whispered.

Lucian saw through her. He glanced at her waist and apologized, “Sorry. Last night, I lost control—”

“Stop!” Roxanne interrupted sharply. I don’t want to think about last night anymore!

Lucian ceased speaking. His expression grew serious. “I also think you acted strangely last night. You were acting like that night six years ago.”

Roxanne frowned. Six years ago, she had given Lucian medication, then consumed some herself, fearing she wouldn’t have the courage otherwise. No way. Did I fall into someone’s trap last night?

Yet, recalling the party, it seemed unlikely anyone harbored ill intentions. There were too many people; such an act would be difficult to conceal. No matter how she strained her memory, she couldn’t piece together the events, only muddling her thoughts further.

Roxanne felt a surge of self-annoyance. A skilled medic, yet she was utterly baffled by what had happened to her.

“Stop thinking about it,” Lucian said, noticing her distress. He regretted mentioning his suspicions. He opened his arms and embraced her. I can investigate this myself. I can tell her later. Further discussion would only add to her frustration.

Lost in thought, Roxanne didn’t realize Lucian had enveloped her in his embrace until she snapped back to reality. His scent filled her nostrils, a calming presence. She’d initially intended to push him away, but instead leaned against his shoulder.

Lucian stroked her hair. “Don’t worry. No matter what happens, I’ll be by your side. I’ll also take responsibility for my actions.”
