Chapter 1403
The boys moved slowly, enjoying themselves. Roxanne, after watching them for a while, lent a hand. Soon, everything from the vehicle was inside the mansion. Meanwhile, Estella, assisting the boys, discovered a white box on the car's passenger seat. Intrigued, she retrieved it and asked, โWhatโs this, Mommy?โ
Everyone turned at her question. Roxanne subconsciously glanced at Lucian, who remained nonchalant, as if the box held no significance for him. Since the adults hadn't forbidden Estella from touching it, and Roxanne didn't respond, she opened it out of curiosity.
Roxanne then saw the contents. โIt's so pretty!โ Estella exclaimed, holding up the object for her mother to see. โIs this Daddyโs gift for you, Mommy?โ
Roxanne looked down at a platinum necklace, exquisitely simple, embedded with a glittering diamond, resting in the girl's palm. Intrigued, the boys approached, their sister's words piquing their interest. Seeing the necklace, they exchanged glances and encouraged, โYou should help Mommy put it on, Mr. Farwell! I bet Mommy will look good with it!โ
Roxanne recoiled slightly, turning to Lucian with a troubled expression. She was already embarrassed Estella had opened the gift in front of him; now the children were urging him to put it on her.
โDaddy!โ Estella trotted to her father, holding up the necklace with anticipation. Lucian patted her head, took the necklace, and approached Roxanne. Though she wanted to step away, she felt it unwise to do so in front of the children. She watched him approach.
The children surrounded their parents, watching excitedly. Lucian grinned. โSince they're eager to see me put this on you, let's just get it over with, shall we?โ
His tone implied reluctance. Resigned, Roxanne looked at the childrenโs bright eyes. Knowing they wouldn't let it drop, she lowered her head, revealing her slender neck.
As Lucian neared, his leather shoes came into her view, his scentโrefreshing yet matureโfilling her senses. A tingling sensation on her neck, caused by his sleeve brushing against her, made her panic. Moments later, he stepped back, the cool necklace now around her neck.
She sighed inwardly, composed herself, and slowly lifted her head. Unseen by her, the children had observed her expression as she bent her head. Just as she looked up, Benny asked, โWere you blushing earlier, Mommy?โ
