Chapter 1454

Was it just her, or did Jack seem different? Stifling a strange feeling, Roxanne grinned. โ€œI wonโ€™t regret this. If you want to research anti-cancer medicine, Iโ€™ll still do my best.โ€

He raised his coffee cup. โ€œThen letโ€™s toast our collaborationโ€™s successโ€”with coffee instead of wine.โ€

She clinked her cup against his. After briefly discussing research progress, they set a project start date and agreed on Damaris Groupโ€™s supply of medicinal herbs. Their meeting concluded in the evening.

Standing to leave, Roxanne checked her phone; it was time for kindergarten dismissal. Linda called, asking if she should pick up the children. Roxanne declined; the children had been complaining about her work and wanting her to pick them up.

Based on her meeting with Jack, Roxanne knew sheโ€™d be busy. She decided to spend her free time with the children. She drove to the kindergarten.

Two teachers were leading the children out. Roxanne noticed an unfamiliar teacher beside Pippa. She looked gentle.

โ€œMs. Jarvis, this is our new teacher, Ms. Smith. Sheโ€™s assisting with Archieโ€™s class,โ€ Pippa introduced.

Roxanne smiled politely. โ€œNice to meet you, Ms. Smith. Iโ€™ll rely on you to look after my children.โ€

Ophelia silently scrutinized Roxanne. Before returning to the country, sheโ€™d often heard Aubree complain about Roxanne, describing her as having snatched Farwell Groupโ€™s CEO. Ophelia had been curious. Now, she thought Roxanne possessed the potential to be a vixen. After this thought, she greeted Roxanne politely.

Parents crowded the entrance. Roxanne said goodbye to the teachers and put the children in the car.

โ€œDo you like the new teacher?โ€ she asked caringly.

The children exchanged glances.

โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong? You donโ€™t like her?โ€

Benny replied, โ€œNo, she seemed weird. She kept staring at us. Even during activities, she tried to approach us, but the other children stopped her.โ€

Roxanne glanced apologetically at the children in the rearview mirror. โ€œIโ€™m sorry. Itโ€™s probably because sheโ€™s new and curious, and because of what happened a few days ago. When Lucian announced the childrenโ€™s background, many employees at the institute stared at me differently. I suppose sheโ€™s just curious, like them.โ€

She added, โ€œIf you donโ€™t like it, Iโ€™ll tell Ms. Ward to remind Ms. Smith not to stare.โ€

The children nodded.
