Chapter 1455

Roxanne's life was quickly back on track, while Lucian's remained chaotic. He planned to visit Roxanne that evening after finishing his work at Farwell Group, but his mother called, demanding his immediate return home.

Lucian frowned at his mother's irritated tone, but nonetheless drove back to the manor. He found Sonya sitting on the couch. "Why are you here?" he asked, his brow furrowed.

Sonya glared at him. "If I hadn't come, I wouldn't even know you were back!" she retorted, unhappy. He hadn't told anyone about his trip overseas with Roxanne. Sonya had visited daily, seeking an explanation, only to be met with silence. His responses regarding Roxanne and the children were always brief and dismissive, leaving Sonya with nowhere to vent her frustration. Their return home gave her the opportunity she'd been waiting for.

Lucian knew her intentions were not good, and his expression darkened. He approached the couch but didn't sit, signaling his unwillingness to engage in a lengthy discussion. Sonya's face fell. "What's this? Roxanne hasn't even married into the family, and you're already taking her side?"

Lucian was accustomed to Sonya's animosity. "Your hostility toward her is why I'm on her side," he said calmly. "If you'd stop, I'd be happy for you both to get along."

Sonya slammed the table, enraged. "Unbelievable! You think you're right? What about those two children? Do you even know who you are? How dare you accept those illegitimate children and even fabricate their backgrounds!"

Lucian remained silent, watching his mother. Her anger escalated. "Do you know how many relatives have called? They've even sent gifts to those bastards! What am I supposed to tell them?" The relatives, eager to curry favor, had even suggested a welcoming party for the children. This nearly sent Sonya into a faint. A welcoming party for those children? Had Lucian lost his mind, and were these relatives senile?

Nevertheless, Lucian had already made a public announcement. Sonya couldn't publicly reprimand her son, so she could only offer half-hearted responses to her relatives' inquiries.

Lucian, unmoved, stated plainly, "I've asked for Roxanne's hand in marriage. She accepted, so Archie and Benny will become my children in due course. They aren't illegitimate. Tell those relatives they are sons of the Farwell family."

Another wave of dizziness washed over Sonya. Hearing this from her son was far more shocking than reading it online. He was adamant about accepting the children into the family! After a moment, she recovered, massaging her temples. "I don't accept this," she said. "So many people are eyeing Farwell Group's assets. Even those relatives are eager to get their hands on some. And you're giving it all to two children of unknown background? This is unacceptable!"
