Chapter 1456
Sonya had never considered herself wrong. She believed she was protecting the Farwell family, and that Lucian was becoming unreasonable. She looked expectantly at her son, hoping he would understand her intentions.
However, Lucian's expression remained unchanged. "The Farwell Group's success is largely due to me. I will manage my assets as I see fit." He added, "If Archie and Benny were capable, I wouldn't mind passing the Farwell Group to them."
Sonya was speechless. Lucian glanced at her. "Besides," he continued, "they are still young. It's too early to worry about this! Consider your own age. You should stop meddling in such insignificant matters. I am capable of managing my own affairs. Why don't you travel with my father? It would benefit your health."
He left without giving her a chance to respond. Watching him go, Sonya huffed angrily. "What do you mean by that? Stop right there!"
Lucian, seemingly ignoring her, disappeared around the stairs.
Catalina attempted to soothe Sonya's anger, offering her coffee. This only intensified Sonya's agitation. "Even you are mocking me! Do you want that Jarvis woman back as well?"
Catalina sighed. "Mrs. Farwell isโ"
"Who told you to refer to her like that? She will never marry into this family as long as I'm alive!" Sonya retorted petulantly.
Catalina remained silent, knowing Roxanne's return to the Farwell family was imminent, and Sonya's opinion would likely change.
Sonya, refusing further conversation, left the house in a rage. Elias arrived home as she departed. Seeing her furious expression, he asked, puzzled, "What happened? Why are you so angry?"
Her anger reignited at the memory of Lucian's words. "Why are you asking me? Ask Lucian!"
Elias sat beside her. "What did Lucian do?" He rarely interfered in Lucian's relationships, confident in his son's ability to handle them. He knew his wife worried constantly, but since the Pearson engagement was canceled, he considered Lucian's marriage his own affair and didn't understand Sonya's anger.
Sonya glared. "Didn't you see Farwell Group's statement? Lucian is insane! Shouldn't you do something as his father?"
Elias was stunned by his wife's outburst. He had seen the statement, understanding that legitimate identities for the children were necessary if Roxanne and Lucian were to marry. Lucian's approach avoided future complications regarding the children's background, assuming, of course, Roxanne would marry into the family.
Sonya's expression darkened at his silence. "Do you also think he's done nothing wrong?"
