Chapter 1503

Sonya fixed Roxanne with a cold stare, clearly suspecting Lucian's involvement in the commotion. Lucian protectively stepped between his mother and Roxanne, then guided Roxanne downstairs, seating her in an armchair while he stood beside her.

“I wouldn't have bothered the police at this late hour,” he began, “but I caught a woman, Ophelia Smith, attempting to tamper with Roxanne's car brakes this afternoon. Had I not intervened, Roxanne and the children might be dead.”

Sonya's expression changed. “What? Didn't she know Estella would be in the car?”

Lucian's tone grew grave. “She knew. Aubree is behind it all.”

“What?” Sonya’s rage caused her to stumble backward into Elias.

He steadied her onto the couch. “What's happening? How can you be sure it was Aubree? Hasn't she learned her lesson after her family’s downfall?”

Lucian nodded indifferently. “I’m also curious why she remains so incorrigible, continually harassing Roxanne and the children.”

His words confirmed Aubree's culpability to his parents. Elias nodded. “If so, she deserves arrest. She should have been arrested after the previous incident.”

Sonya remained doubtful. “Aubree’s—”

“I’m sure you’ve seen the hotel photos of her in a robe,” Lucian interrupted, his voice hardening. “Doesn’t that reveal her character? Do you still doubt her involvement? How long will you let her deceive you?” A flash of anger ignited in his eyes as he looked at his mother.

Sonya looked away, remembering the photos. He's right. Aubree is a liar. But…

Narrowing his eyes, Lucian said, “If you still doubt it, call her. Confront her directly.”

Roxanne immediately understood. Aubree, cornered, would see Sonya as a lifeline and come running.

The realization made Roxanne nervous. She desperately hoped Sonya would call Aubree.

Sonya looked uncertainly from Lucian to Roxanne.

“Why don’t you call her?” Elias urged. Sonya retrieved her phone, found Aubree’s number, and dialed.

Meanwhile, Aubree, frantic and desperate, saw Sonya’s call. Instinctively, she viewed Sonya as her savior and answered immediately.

“Mrs. Farwell, you have to help me!” she cried, her voice choked with tears.

Sonya’s heart lurched. Lucian was right. Yet, a trace of pity remained. “Was it you who instigated Ophelia Smith?”

Aubree sobbed, “It was my fault, Mrs. Farwell. I lost control. Please help me. I won't do it again!”
