Chapter 1505

Sonya shook her head gloomily, unwilling to speak further. The humiliation of being tricked by Aubree was profound; she wouldn't admit it to Roxanne. Lucian and Roxanne exchanged solemn glances at her silence.

"What do you plan to have the police do to her?" Elias asked.

"They'll handle her accordingly. However, we need to find Aubree first," Lucian replied coldly.

Sonya frowned. "Why didn't you tell me sooner? I wouldn't have been so lenient!" She added under her breath, "Had I known, I would have pretended to care and tricked her into returning."

Lucian understood. "She's extremely cautious. I only asked you to call to test her; I didn't expect much."

Seeing Sonya's anger rising, Elias quickly stood, pulling her into his arms. "Your mother and I will leave you two alone. Call if you need anything. I'll have our men continue searching for Aubree."

Suppressing her anger, Sonya said coldly, "I'll see Gina and Samuel again. Hopefully, they can convince Aubree to surrender."

Relieved, Lucian smiled and nodded.

Elias, walking Sonya to the door, said, "You two should rest."

Lucian arched an eyebrow. "Got it. Drive carefully."

Only after they were in the car did Sonya express her remorse. "How could I miss all the signs? Aubree is cruel and heartless! Our granddaughter suffers, and yet Aubree targeted her…"

Elias, starting the car, said, "That's why I told you not to interfere with Lucian's affairs."

Sonya frowned, but Elias continued before she could reply, "Why do you think Lucian didn't marry her after all these years? Why does Essie refuse to accept her?"

Sonya was speechless. The answers were obvious: Lucian couldn't let go of Roxanne, and Essie had long seen through Aubree's facade. Her granddaughter had suffered greatly, unable to confide in anyone. Sonya's attempts to foster Aubree's relationship with Essie had backfired, and she felt terrible about it.

"Why did Lucian want you to call Aubree?" Elias pressed, receiving no answer.

Snapped from her thoughts, Sonya replied reluctantly, "He wanted me to see Aubree's true intentions. Have I been a complete fool?"

"Lucian decides whom he marries. If you interfere, he might marry someone like Aubree. Do you want the Farwell family in her hands?" Elias asked.

Sonya snorted, remaining silent.
