Chapter 1550: Not Enough
Just as she finished speaking, Roxanne cast an embarrassed glance at the nearby sales attendant. The attendant, who had overheard, simply smiled politely.
Lucian's eyes held an affectionate concern as he noticed Roxanne's anxiety. Moments later, the staff arrived with the wrapped clothing. Lucian took the bags, saying to Roxanne, "I'll pay for these. You'll only need to pay for my suit." He smiled, awaiting her reply.
Six years ago, Roxanne regretted not buying Lucian clothes. Since he was giving her this opportunity to rectify it, she readily agreed. Lucian wanted to try on more clothes, but Roxanne stopped him. "That's enough," she said, then glanced at the sales attendant, whispering, "You'll still have to wear the ones in the bags. We can check out then."
Lucian seemed dissatisfied at not being able to try on the clothes immediately. He nodded only after a moment of silent contemplation. The couple proceeded to the counter.
After leaving the men's boutique, Lucian wanted to take Roxanne shopping. "You've already bought so many for me..." Roxanne refused hastily. "I don't know when you shopped for me, but when I arrived at the Farwell residence, half the clothes in my closet were new and expensive!" Accustomed to her lab coat, Roxanne wasn't used to colorful, fancy clothes. "I don't need many. A couple of gowns will suffice," she said.
Lucian hugged her from behind, whispering, "You don't need much now, but I think you'll need more as Mrs. Farwell." He was using gifts to compensate for the past six years and to publicly display his affection for Roxanne. Having her wear the clothes he bought was a way to show the world she was his.
Sensing his persistence, Roxanne couldn't refuse again. "I've only worn a few pieces from the closet. Buying more would be wasteful."
Lucian held her hand, leading her upstairs to shop for her clothes without giving her a chance to argue. Shopping for Roxanne proved considerably easier. He glanced at the clothing, made decisive choices, and instructed the staff to wrap the new arrivals and send them to his car.
With time remaining, they shopped for the children. Archie and Benny's purchases were simpleโLucian bought the latest Apple products with accessories. Estella's clothes, however, were handpicked by Roxanne.
Lucian initially thought a couple of outfits for Estella would suffice. However, Roxanne felt compelled to make up for lost time. "Since I can buy things for her now, I should do whatever makes her happy. Besides, she'd have fewer clothes than me with only a couple of outfits. How could I let that happen?"
