Roxanne smiled apologetically. "I'm sorry, but I'm not in the mood for that right now."
Although she refused pleasantly, the wealthy gentleman was slightly disappointed. He turned and left without further pressure.
Finally, she had her longed-for peace and quiet.
Just as she was about to compose herself, she heard a familiar voice.
"Roxanne? Is that you?"
Hearing this, Roxanne looked up. She saw a charming man in a gray tuxedo staring at her, bewildered.
Their eyes met, and Roxanne's lit up. "Larry? What a coincidence!" she exclaimed, surprised.
Larry Morrison was a senior she'd met abroad. He was an international elite among the younger generation.
Larry had helped Roxanne considerably when she first went abroad, so they had a good relationship. After returning home, she'd been busy with the research institute and hadn't contacted him.
Seeing he hadn't mistaken her, Larry smiled brightly and approached. "It's been a long time."
Roxanne smiled and nodded. "Indeed. When did you return? Why didn't you contact me?"
Larry assessed her. "I've been back for two weeks. I considered contacting you, but I was afraid of disturbing you. You seem to have lost weight. Have you been busy with work in Chanaea?"
Roxanne smiled. "You could say that."
Although busy with the research institute, her workload was less than abroad. Sheโd lost weight, but she chose not to reveal her personal reasons to Larry.
Larry looked at her worriedly. "I know you're a workaholic, but take care of yourself. Don't overwork."
Roxanne simply nodded.
"Why are you here? Already working with Queen Group?" Larry asked, smiling.
Roxanne was momentarily stunned. Remembering the banquet guests, she smiled and shook her head. "I only recently returned. I was invited because I treated Old Mr. Queen. I suppose I am working with the Queen familyโthey supply our research institute with medicine."
Larry was astonished. "I heard about Old Mr. Queen's condition. Many renowned doctors failed. To hear he was curedโwho was the doctor? It was you?"
Roxanne smiled. "I was lucky. It fell within my specialty."
Larry raised an eyebrow. "Stop being humble. I know your capabilities well. Still, to know you cured Old Mr. Queen is impressive."
"You flatter me, Larry," Roxanne laughed.
They chatted happily about Mr. Queen's illness and their respective medical fields.
Nearby, Lucian had seen a man approach Roxanne and leave shortly before. His gaze darkened as he watched her happily conversing with another man. His displeasure was palpable.
Jonathan noticed Lucian's reaction and understood the reason. "Lucian, shall we go over there?" he asked.
