Chapter 1641: Enlist His Aid

Lucian hurried to the research institute. After examining Roxanne, the researchers, under Linda's leadership, returned to their work. Having a lead on Roxanne's condition, Lucian naturally checked on their progress. He found them conducting experiments; only Linda remained in the office, periodically glancing towards Roxanne's workstation with worry.

Just as Linda's concern mounted, she heard the door open. She turned to see Lucian standing in the entryway, his brow furrowed. He instructed her, "Gather everyone from this morning. I have something to say."

Understanding the urgency, Linda quickly assembled the team. Lucian addressed them gravely, "Is there a medicinal herb potent only when burned? Inhalation of sufficient residue causes unconsciousness?"

The researchers, unlike most hospital doctors, possessed extensive knowledge of herbal remedies. The likelihood of them identifying the herb was far higher.

Their initial shock gave way to speculation. They narrowed the possibilities to four or five herbs, but required blood tests to pinpoint the exact one. A palpable tension filled the room.

Lucian's cold inquiry, "What's the matter?", broke the silence. Finally, someone hesitantly asked permission to draw Roxanne's blood for testing. Lucian's slight frown quickly softened. "As long as you can find a cure, it's permissible," he replied, his voice deep. "How much do you need? I'll have the hospital send it."

Lucian then called Madilyn, explaining the situation. The researchers resumed their analysis.

Linda, seemingly having an idea, approached Lucian's office. He had just ended a call when she knocked. Respectfully, she suggested, "Mr. Farwell, Dr. Galloway's herbal research is the best in the institute. Perhaps we could enlist his aid?"

Linda's heart pounded as Lucian remained silent. She remembered Colby's numerous accolades from Harvey.
