Chapter 1663: Repay Your Kindness Generously

Frieda returned immediately to the Queen residence. Jonathan was listening to his assistant's report inside. Of the invitations sent, several renowned but reclusive doctors were unavailable, while others declined outright. In short, none accepted. Jonathan understood; these established experts likely had prior commitments. The Queens weren't close to these individuals, so they’d used Alfred's name to reach out. Normally, Jonathan wouldn't have tolerated such rejections, but his friend's partner's peril spurred him to panic.

He stood abruptly. “Buy me a plane ticket. I'll go meet them in person!” His assistant remained silent, hurrying to comply. As they left the mansion, they encountered Frieda entering. “Jonathan, where are you going? I found someone who can save Roxanne.”

Frieda's expression was not one of joy, but rather a hint of smugness. Noticing Jonathan's reaction, she knew he hadn't found anyone. Yes! I won!

Jonathan, anxious, pressed, “Who did you manage to contact?”

Frieda cleared her throat. “I spoke to someone who gave me Peregrine Lomax's contact—Merania's King of Medicine!”

Jonathan's eyes widened. “Peregrine Lomax? You got him?”

Guilt flickered across Frieda's face, quickly masked. “I told him about the patient's condition, that she was Dr. Lambert's apprentice, and that I was from the Queen family. I think he agreed because of Grandpa and Dr. Lambert. But he requested ten million. Lucian wouldn't mind such a small sum, would he?”

Jonathan saw the inconsistencies, but lacked the mental energy to dwell on them. He confirmed, “Are you sure it's Peregrine Lomax? Where is he, and when will he arrive?”

Frieda disliked his questioning. “Yes, it's him. I arranged for him to rest in the suburbs; he should arrive soon.”

Jonathan hesitated, then chose to trust her. I have no choice. “Okay, I'll contact Lucian. You go pick up Mr. Lomax. We'll go to the hospital immediately upon his arrival!”

Reluctantly, Frieda agreed, contacting Shawn to arrange transport while she waited at a designated location to minimize travel time. Jonathan immediately called Lucian with the good news. Even if Frieda didn't know Peregrine, Jonathan did; besides Jack, Old Mr. Lomax was Roxanne's only other hope.

Hearing about the renowned doctor and Jonathan’s effusive praise, Lucian stiffened. “Ten million is nothing. I'll pay him a hundred million, a billion!” The legendary King of Medicine was their last hope.

Jonathan seized the opportunity. “We should thank Frieda for bringing him here.”

Lucian's deep voice resonated. “I'll repay your kindness generously if he cures Roxanne!”

Jonathan offered a casual reply before hanging up. I don't expect repayment. My only hope is that he won't hold a grudge against Frieda.
