Chapter 1664: The Four Peculiar Poisons

Frieda brought the man within an hour. Jonathan quickly greeted, "Old Mr. Lomax." Peregrine observed the siblings before addressing Jonathan in a gentler tone: "Where's your grandfather?"

Jonathan furrowed his brows. "My grandfather isn't well; he's been recuperating away from home. If you wish to meet him, I'll take you after you treat my friend. Her condition is critical, and she can't afford delay. Please forgive the inconvenience of your journey."

Peregrine nodded. "Saving a life is paramount. Where is the patient?"

"She's at the hospital. I'll take you now," Jonathan replied, leading the way. Frieda deliberately slowed her pace to walk beside Peregrine. Jonathan drove them swiftly but steadily to the hospital.

Lucian waited downstairs. After Jonathan's introduction, Lucian understood the reclusive experts' pride; humility, he reasoned, would foster a favorable impression and ensure Roxanne's best treatment. Jonathan introduced Lucian as the head of the Farwell family.

Lucian bowed slightly, extending a hand to Peregrine. "My apologies for the trouble, Old Mr. Lomax. World-renowned doctors have been consulted, to no avail. I hope you can offer assistance."

Peregrine nodded, ignoring the outstretched hand. "Etiquette is inconsequential. Take me to her." Lucian immediately led the way. Peregrine was impressed by his decisiveness.

The doctors on the top floor were astonished. Middle-aged physicians, familiar with the legendary "King of Medicine of Merania" from sixteen years prior, were awestruck to encounter him. They had heard of his reclusive life and felt a pang of wistful nostalgia. Silence fell as the legendary figure arrived.

Peregrine disregarded the stunned doctors, following Lucian to the ward. Seeing Roxanne, he asked, "What's happening? What do you know of her condition?"

Lucian, lacking medical expertise, deferred to Madilyn, who presented Roxanne's recent test results, explaining the poisoning. Lucian added, "Her poisoner confessed to using a mixture of the Four Peculiar Poisons, administered over time via essential oils."

Peregrine examined the results, a skeptical expression crossing his face upon hearing Lucian's account. "Essential oils?"

Lucian affirmed, "He wouldn't lie at that moment."
