Chapter 1681: Your Own Decision

Lucian's gaze darkened slightly when Elias mentioned Roxanne, but he quickly composed himself before his parents noticed.

“I’ll ask Essie first,” he said. “But if she wants to be with her mother, I won’t stop her.”

He only discussed his arrangement for Estella, saying nothing about Roxanne. Sonya found this even more unbelievable. She couldn’t comprehend Lucian’s apparent willingness to let Estella go.

“What’s wrong with you today, Lucian? Are you sick?” Sonya asked. “You have a fever?” She added silently, Although I’ve never liked Roxanne, I know Lucian is obsessed with her. I was prepared for a long battle. Why is he giving up so easily? Is this a trick?

Lucian looked at her impassively. “Haven’t you been wishing to see me marry another woman? Why are you reacting this way now that I’m giving in?”

Sonya was speechless, yet she still sensed something was wrong. She shot Elias a worried glance.

Elias looked at Lucian with concern. “Did something happen? Did you have a fight with Roxanne?” He couldn't imagine another explanation for his son's unusual behavior.

Lucian ignored the question. He turned to Sonya. “I don’t have her contact information, so please help me contact her and ask her to come over. Or I can go look for her.”

Sonya's eyes widened in confusion.

“I’m only saying this tonight,” Lucian clarified, meeting Sonya’s gaze. “After tonight, I might change my mind.”

Sonya hesitated. It’s true, I’ve always wanted him to marry someone else. However… something is definitely wrong with Lucian tonight.

“What happened, Lucian? Tell us,” Sonya urged patiently. “Even if I can’t help, maybe your dad can!”

Lucian’s patience snapped. He slammed his fork down. “Since you’re not going to help, I’ll do it myself.”

Seeing him head for the door, Sonya quickly agreed. “All right! I’ll call Elektra and ask her to come over!”

She immediately called Elektra. The call was answered quickly.

With a scowl, Sonya said, “Are you free, Elektra? You’ve been wanting to see Lucian since you came back, right? He’s here. Would you like to come over?”

It was unusual for Sonya to invite someone over during dinner. To her surprise, Elektra was delighted and readily agreed.

After hanging up, Sonya looked at Lucian helplessly. “Elektra’s coming. Sit down and eat.” She sighed worriedly. What exactly happened? Why did Lucian change so suddenly?

Lucian remained silent. Sonya glanced at him, then at Elias, hoping Elias could get some answers from Lucian.

To her dismay, Elias simply stared at Lucian with a grim expression before rising. “It’s your decision,” he said. “I’m not going to intervene, but you have to be responsible for your own decision.” He turned and went upstairs.
