Chapter 1682: Marriage Certificate

Lucian and Sonya sat silently in the living room, awaiting Elektra. After a while, they heard the door. Sonya glanced at Lucian before rising to greet their guest.

"Mrs. Farwell," the guest greeted.

An elegant woman entered. Elektra, in a dark green dress, carried a white purse and affectionately took Sonya's arm. Having met several times since her return, they were close. Sonya clearly favored Elektra as a potential daughter-in-law.

"I'm so sorry to see you at such an odd hour. Have you dined?" Sonya asked, smiling.

Elektra smiled back. "It's fine. I'm dieting; I don't eat at night."

They entered the living room. Lucian rose to greet Elektra with gentlemanly grace. "It's been a while, Lucian. You look so mature," Elektra remarked, admiration evident in her eyes. Their last meeting had been during their teenage years. While she'd seen him frequently on television, seeing him in person revealed the extent of his transformation.

Lucian politely shook her hand. "Indeed. You look prettier now."

Elektra smiled shyly. Sonya, witnessing their harmonious interaction, forgot her earlier bewilderment. "You two talk; I'll make coffee," she said, smiling, and left to give them privacy.

Elektra sat beside Lucian, studying him. Having spent time with Sonya, she knew about Lucian and Roxanne. The thought of him behaving as described seemed improbable. Moreover, she wondered why he was meeting her, and if he wasn't concerned about Roxanne Jarvis misunderstanding. Puzzlement filled her gaze.

"Do you have a boyfriend or someone you're interested in?" Lucian asked directly.

Elektra was taken aback. Such a personal question? she thought. Why is he asking this immediately?

Seeing his earnest expression, she grew serious. "N-no... What's up?"

"What do you think of me? If you don't mind, we can get our marriage certificates now."

Elektra's confusion deepened. We've just met, and he's proposing marriage? she thought. Sonya said he's in love with someone else. Why is he doing this? And where do we even get marriage certificates at night?

"L-Lucian, have you been drinking? Do you know what you're saying?" she asked.

"I haven't been drinking," he replied, his face serious.

His answer only deepened her bewilderment.

In a deep voice, Lucian said, "That's why I asked to see you. Consider whether you want to marry me."
