Chapter 1700: Not Exaggerating At All
Everyone was shocked by Roxanne's quick comprehension. "Is there a problem?" she asked, confused by their surprised expressions.
Stunned, the experts remained silent. Thinking they were worried about Lucian, Roxanne smiled reassuringly. "Just follow my instructions. I'll explain to Lucian if he finds out."
A gasp rippled through the room. "D-Does Mr. Farwell not know about this?" They'd assumed the tense atmosphere stemmed from Lucian's knowledge of the situation. The experts were surprised Roxanne hadn't told him, given its gravity.
Roxanne lowered her gaze, worry evident. "I think I can manage this myself. He's been so worried these past few days; I don't want to add to his stress. Please help me keep this secret." She flashed them another smile. "I have faith in you. Please have faith in me. I'll figure something out."
Touched by her confidence, the experts hesitated briefly before agreeing. "Since you trust us so much, Mrs. Farwell, we'll do everything we can."
Roxanne breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you all very much." Despite their age difference, she remained polite and respectful. The experts, however, felt her humility was excessive.
"No need to thank us, Mrs. Farwell. You're Dr. Lambert's greatest student, after all. Honestly, we thought the news article exaggerated your medical skills. Meeting you in person proved otherwise."
Roxanne smiled politely. "We're all doctors here. Call me Dr. Jarvis."
"You're a miracle worker, Dr. Jarvis! Your medical knowledge surpasses ours, despite your youth!"
"We all excel in different areas. I happen to be good at traditional medicine," Roxanne replied. She glanced at the clock. Lucian would return soon. "Time is of the essence. Let's draw my blood," she urged, knowing they'd have no time once he arrived.
The experts nodded and went to work. After drawing her blood, one expert sent it to the lab while the others waited outside.
Five minutes later, the elevator reached the top floor. Lucian stepped out, carrying a large bag of fruit. He narrowed his eyes, noticing the experts outside the ward.
"Where's Dr. Wagley?" Lucian possessed a remarkable memory, and having been there for days, he knew each expert. They hadn't anticipated his noticing Dr. Wagley's absence and were taken aback.
One expert stammered nervously, "D-Dr. Wagley went to the bathroom. He'll be back shortly."
Lucian frowned suspiciously before entering the ward. Roxanne had composed herself and was scrolling through her phone. Madilyn had texted, asking about her condition. To avoid worrying her, Roxanne said she was recovering.
She put away her phone as Lucian approached the bed. He glanced at her phone as he set down the fruit. "Who were you texting?"
