Chapter 1733: Lucian Has To Come
Jack glanced out the window before saying casually, โDamaris Group. I'm in my office.โ
โAll right. I'll be right over. Please prepare the antidote, Mr. Damaris,โ Lucian replied immediately.
Just as Lucian was about to hang up, Jack added, โOh, I forgot to mention Ms. Jarvis doesn't have much time left. To arrive on time, you must be here within twenty minutes.โ
Lucian, already in motion, replied, โI'll make it.โ Even ten minutes would have been sufficient.
A cold look flashed across Jack's eyes at Lucian's ready agreement. He added, โBy the way, the elevators are out of service. You'll have to use the stairs, Mr. Farwell. Remember, twenty minutes!โ
Lucian's expression sobered, but he simply said, โAny other requests, Mr. Damaris? If not, I'm on my way.โ
โI guess I shouldn't keep you any longer. I'll wait for you on the top floor,โ Jack said smugly, hanging up.
Overlooking Horington, Jack imagined Lucian's disheveled arrival. He laughed aloud. โHow dare you trick me, Lucian! I'll show you what it feels like! I'll make you endure your humiliation silently.โ
Kevinโs anxiety grew at Jackโs manic behavior.
Jack whirled around, displeased. โWhy arenโt you laughing?โ
Kevin trembled, unsure how to react. He couldn't bring himself to laugh.
โThe almighty CEO of Farwell Group is my puppet! He does as I say! He knows I'm toying with him, but he lacks the courage to refuse! Isn't that funny?โ Jack looked insane. โLaugh! And when Lucian arrives, wear a haughty expression!โ
Kevin, forced to comply, managed a strained smile.
Only after seeing his assistantโs smile did Jack return to his desk, satisfied. He played with the improved antidote, awaiting Lucianโs arrival. A screen displayed the main entranceโs surveillance footage.
โTwenty minutes, Lucian. Don't be late.โ Jack checked the time before focusing on the screen. A single minute late, and the torture would begin again. He was completely at his mercy.
Over ten minutes passed swiftly. Lucian still hadn't appeared.
Jackโs composure faltered. Why the delay? Was he even coming? Judging by his earlier tone, Roxanne's life was in danger. And they couldn't possibly have the antidote. Lucian had to come.
He forced himself to remain calm, waiting for Lucian to appear on the screen.
