Chapter 1779: Visit to the Kindergarten
When Elias and Sonya arrived at the kindergarten, school hadn't yet ended. They sought out Jeffrey to see Estella.
"Please wait," Jeffrey said politely. "I'll fetch Essie from the classroom."
Soon, Estella skipped into Jeffrey's office, believing she was receiving a reward. Seeing her grandparents, she joyfully ran into Elias's embrace.
"Hahaha! Essie, did you miss me?" Elias chuckled, holding Estella close.
"Of course! I missed you, Grandpa!"
Elias's stubble pricked Estella, causing her slight discomfort. "Grandpa, your beard is prickly!"
Elias laughed, ignoring her slight protest and kissing her cheek. "I missed you too! It's been so long."
Sonya watched their interaction with some unease. "Don't you miss me too, Essie?" she asked, a hint of accusation in her voice. Suspicion clouded her face, prompting Elias to gently ask, "What are you talking about?"
"I missed you too, Grandma! I love your pastries! I haven't had them in ages!" After Elias set Estella down, she hugged Sonya.
Reassured by Estella's words, Sonya returned the hug with a smile.
Jeffrey tactfully left his office, allowing the grandparents time with their granddaughter. Just as he was departing, Elias stopped him. "Mr. Bauer, could you bring Essie's brothers here as well?"
Jeffrey was stunned, aware of past events and Sonya's prejudice against the boys. Sonya, too, was surprised and looked at her husband, frowning. "What are you doing?"
Ignoring Sonya's reluctance, Elias nodded to Jeffrey. "Bring them over."
"O-Okay! I'll get Archie and Benny. Please wait a moment!"
Sonya's tone hardened. "Elias, why do you want to see those two children? Do you intend to acknowledge them as part of the Farwell family? Let me be clear: before anything is confirmed, I will not."
Estella, seemingly understanding the tension, blinked. "Grandma, don't you like my brothers? They're my biological brothers! Mommy and Daddy are their parents!"
Sonya froze, suppressing her emotions.
"Lucian has acknowledged them, so I will too," Elias said firmly. "Please control yourself in front of Essie. She loves them. Their feelings are what matter most." Sonya remained unresponsive.
Estella, though curious about the adults' displeasure, remained quiet and obedient. Elias smiled at her.
"Being with the boys has helped Essie's speech immensely. You wouldn't even know she's ill." His words were directed at Sonya, a plea for her to accept reality and overcome her prejudice.
