Chapter 1780: Acknowledging Two Brothers
Sonya started to speak, but Jeffrey arrived with Archie and Benny, interrupting her. The boys remained impassive at the sight of Elias and Sonya; Estella, however, beamed.
โArchie, Benny, greet Grandpa and Grandma!โ Estella urged, naively believing this would instantly forge a family bond. The boys simply smiled at Estella, then exchanged curious glances with Elias, watching his reaction.
With a charming smile, Elias bent down, patting their heads. โWhatโs wrong? Why arenโt you calling me Grandpa? Come on, my precious grandsons.โ
The boys were taken aback by his kind welcome. Elias embraced them, pulling them close. Archie and Benny exchanged a lookโa mixture of shock, confusion, and delight evident in their eyes. Archie nodded to Benny, and together they called out, โGrandpa!โ
โHaha! Thatโs more like it! You truly are my precious grandsons. Iโve made mistakes, and I hope you can forgive me,โ Elias said, completely ignoring Sonyaโs scowl.
โGrandpa! Grandpa, youโre squeezing us too tightly!โ Benny exclaimed, experiencing the affectionate, albeit slightly suffocating, embrace Estella often received. Elias chuckled and released them.
Archie, too, felt the scratch of his grandfather's stubble, a novel sensation that elicited genuine laughter.
โLet me see. Youโre the older brother, Archie, right? And youโre Benny. Correct?โ Elias studied their faces intently after releasing them. โEven though their eyes and brows resemble Roxanneโs, thatโs just because theyโre young and have inherited her dominant features. Theyโll likely resemble Lucian more in their teens. They definitely inherited the Farwell familyโs calm temperament.โ
Archie and Benny nodded simultaneously, their synchronized response intriguing Elias. โIt seems Iโll need to research the synchronization between twins.โ
Throughout this interaction, the boys ignored Sonya completely, sensing her intense dislike. Her usual dark expression and cold eyes betrayed her aversion. Though Elias noticed her displeasure, he didnโt rush to intervene, unwilling to force the children into uncomfortable decisions.
โArchie, Benny, what about Grandma?โ Estella urged. They looked at Sonya, but remained silent.
Sonyaโs irritation flared. โSave it! I donโt plan on acknowledging either of you. This is all your motherโs scam!โ
Anger hardened the boys' expressions. Estella was stunned. A flicker of sadness crossed her eyes. โGrandma, please donโt talk about Mommy like that. Please?โ
โNonsense! My mommy isnโt like that! Weโre Daddyโs kids,โ Benny retorted.
Archie, the slightly more mature twin, looked to his grandfather, curious about his reaction. Elias simmered with anger, nearly losing his temper, but he controlled himself. โListen to yourself. Canโt you be more discreet in front of the children?โ
Sonya, realizing arguing with a child would be foolish, remained silent. She picked up Estella. โLetโs go outside. I heard youโve been taking dance lessons. Will you show me?โ
Estella struggled briefly but relented, sensing her grandmotherโs anger had subsided. Maybe I can convince Grandma to accept Archie and Benny, she thought.
