Chapter 1808: Sonya Buys Clothes for Archie and Benny

Lucian collected Roxanne and the children from kindergarten. The children were delighted to see their father recovered from his cold.

“Daddy, I have some pocket money! Let me treat you to dinner. You were sick, so you should eat something delicious,” Estella declared.

Lucian asked curiously, “Where did you get your pocket money, Estella? Didn't Grandpa help you save your holiday gifts?”

Roxanne, amused, added, “Essie, did you save a lot of money from your gifts?”

Estella nodded smugly. “Yes! Lots! Grandpa kept it for me. But this pocket money is from other kids who paid me to make cards for them.”

Lucian looked at Archie and Benny for confirmation. They nodded.

Archie explained, “Essie’s cards are really nice. Kids bought their own materials and asked her to help. I decided on twenty dollars per card. She made a lot and earned a few hundred.”

Lucian and Roxanne exchanged loving glances.

Benny blurted, “Mommy, Daddy, Essie’s still making a card for you both! It’ll be beautiful!”

Estella protested, “Benny, you promised not to spoil the surprise!”

Benny stuck out his tongue. Lucian and Roxanne's anticipation grew.

“All right, Essie treats us today! You’re the best!” Lucian declared.

They dined at a farm-to-table restaurant, enjoying a delicious and affordable meal thanks to Estella’s earnings.

Returning to the mansion at nine o'clock, they found Sonya's car. Sonya emerged, carrying several bags.

“Lucian, Roxanne, you’re finally back,” she said.

Lucian frowned, clearly unenthusiastic. Roxanne noticed Sonya's puffy eyes, suggesting she had been crying, but felt no empathy. She took Estella’s hand and headed inside.

Estella called out, “Grandma, what’s in your hands?” Archie and Benny, however, hid behind Lucian, fear evident in their eyes.

Lucian’s expression hardened. He scooped up the boys and strode past Sonya into the living room.

Sonya looked bewildered, her lips twitching. A complex mix of emotions played across her face. After a moment, she forced a smile and followed. The smile, however, seemed strained and sad.

“Lucian, Roxanne, these are gifts for Archie and Benny. Winter’s coming, and they’re growing fast. These are new clothes and some figurines. I’m not sure if they’ll like them,” Sonya said softly, her voice tinged with misery.
