Chapter 1813: Gifting a Mansion
Roxanne felt particularly relaxed that day. She'd already made plans with her best friend to celebrate that evening. She called Lucian, asking him to bring Jonathan along. Then, she picked up her three children from kindergarten and took them to a celebratory dinner.
Madilyn, exquisitely dressed and made up, looked stunning. "Aunt Madilyn, you look stunning!" Archie and Benny exclaimed, showering her with praise. Estella added, "Aunt Madilyn, you're even more beautiful than Mommy!"
Madilyn was surprised by Estella's words, but Lucian and Roxanne seemed unconcerned. "So, these three children, separated in such a strange way, have finally reunited?" Madilyn said, feeling emotional. "To be honest, though I've known this for a long time, it still hasn't quite sunk in."
"What do you mean, I'm more beautiful than your mommy? Your mom is still the most beautiful, isn't she? You're quite the talker, little girl!" Madilyn chuckled, picking up Estella and feeding her steak. The little girl, too busy eating to respond, was met with laughter as she tried to talk and eat simultaneously.
Roxanne then noticed her best friend glancing at Jonathan repeatedly. A thought struck her: Why didn't I realize my best friend was dressed up for a reason? When did this start?
Lucian, a gentle father, ate little, preferring champagne and focusing on feeding the children. Jonathan toasted Roxanne: "Congratulations, Ms. Jarvis, on your consecutive successful drug developments. Each drug is more popular than the last, and your research institute's market value continues to climb."
Roxanne, initially lifting her wine glass, noticed Lucian's cold gaze. She awkwardly substituted it with grape juice, similar in color to red wine. Lucian, after she drank, relaxed and praised her: "Our company's stock has also risen significantly thanks to the Farwell Group and your research institute's cooperation. It's all thanks to you!" He raised his glass. Roxanne followed suit.
Jonathan continued, "Come to think of it, I understand Jack's behavior now. Ms. Jarvis's potential is immeasurable!" Madilyn, rarely effusive, echoed his praise. Jonathan's smile flustered her, causing her to look away.
Lucian noticed Madilyn's reaction and gave Roxanne a questioning look. She raised an eyebrow and smiled; he understood and smiled back. It seems this pair is a good match, he thought.
After a five-course meal and several rounds of drinks, Roxanne announced something unexpected. Lucian was baffled; they weren't at the office or the research institute.
"To express my gratitude to my dear friend Madilyn for her unconditional care for the children and me over the years, I'm gifting her a mansion!" Roxanne declared.
Lucian and Jonathan applauded. The children cheered excitedly, urging Madilyn to accept. Madilyn was stunned, looking at Roxanne incredulously.
