Chapter 1822: Lifetime
Initially, Jennifer felt hopeless, but Roxanne's solemn expression prompted her to quickly offer a cup of coffee.
Roxanne accepted, took a sip, and continued reading the record. "First, we'll move your father to our hospital. The treatment is free; you just need to care for him. It should take about a month."
Jennifer was astonished. Free treatment? The cost had nearly depleted her savings, leaving her struggling to support her family and her child's university education.
"Do you mean it, Ms. Jarvis?" she asked, fearing a joke.
Roxanne nodded. "He needs surgery. I can't guarantee how long he'll live, but I can increase his five-year survival rate to eighty-five percent."
Jennifer was stunned. "Do you mean he could live five more years?"
"Yes."
Tears welled up. "Truly? Thank you, Ms. Jarvis! You're my savior! My son's been so worried; now I can give him good news."
Roxanne offered comfort.
Later, Lucian and Elektra left the room. Having witnessed Jennifer's distress and Roxanne's reassurance, Lucian understood. "Mr. Valentine is asleep. I heard you have childrenโone in university and another in high school?"
Elektra, delighted at the news of Nicholas's treatment, also felt a touch of envy towards Roxanne's skills. Jennifer nodded.
"Your family's probably spent a fortune on Mr. Valentine's illness. I'll provide one million to ensure your children's education. Let me know if it's insufficient," Lucian offered.
Elektra added, "I don't have much cash on hand, perhaps three to four hundred thousand, but I'll give it to you."
Jennifer was speechless, overwhelmed by their generosity. She sobbed and tried to kneel, but Roxanne and Lucian prevented her.
"Please," Lucian said gently, "Mr. Valentine dedicated his life to educating young people, even to the point of illness. We want to repay his contributions. We'll also ask fellow students to donate."
Elektra agreed. "Mr. Valentine lived simply; he wasn't greedy. We won't let him suffer financial hardship."
Jennifer's worries vanished.
"I'll contact Madilyn to send a vehicle for Mr. Valentine," Roxanne said, her focus remaining on Nicholas's condition. She immediately called, and an ambulance arrived promptly.
Afterward, as Jennifer watched them go, she wept again.
