Chapter 1823: Unable to Escape
Lucian suggested, "Let's share a meal, Elektra. I only learned of Mr. Valentine's condition because you alerted me. Had we not met him in time, he might have been beyond saving."
Elektra declined. He left the school with Roxanne.
On their way back, Roxanne received a call from Madilyn. Nicholas was being transferred to the hospital.
"You're doing a pretty good job as a hospital director," Roxanne teased.
Madilyn grumbled, "Can you stop rubbing it in? I thought being a director meant endless meetings. It's far more demanding than I anticipated! Do you know what time I get off work now? And the mansion you gifted me? I'm so busy, I haven't even checked if the utilities are still on!"
Roxanne pointed out the high salary and the opportunity to meet exceptional doctors.
Surprisingly, Madilyn asked, "What about Jonathan? He seems busy. Do you think he's overworking himself? Should I arrange a check-up for him at the hospital?"
Roxanne was momentarily stunned. Even though Jonathan was a bit dense, Madilyn was clearly still smitten with him. She agreed to help. "That sounds like a good plan. I'll ask Lucian to order him to have a check-upโto experience your 'tenderness.'"
Madilyn sneered, "Sure. He'll get a taste of my 'tenderness.' This time, I'll be the one providing the vomit bag!"
Roxanne shivered. I wonder what punishment she has in store for Jonathan, she thought.
Lucian, noticing Roxanne giggling after the call, asked why she was laughing. She recounted Madilyn's plan, eliciting a hearty chuckle from him. "It seems there's no escape for Jonathan!"
"Yeah. Though, I'm worried about the Queen family. Who would have thought Frieda would defy her family?"
Roxanne's concern was justified. At the Queen residence, Frieda was packing her belongings. Her parents pleaded with her to stay, urging Jonathan to intervene.
Jonathan scowled. "Ignore her, Mom, Dad. She's delusional. She can't even see that Shawn's using her. Look at the damage she's caused! Does she really think Shawn will give her those businesses?"
Frieda barked furiously, "Yeah, yeah, you're always right! The Queen family has to rely on you! You're inhumane! You stole my businesses for Lucian and Roxanne! Shawn almost blamed me! I'm leaving! Shawn will win, and Jonathan will cry. He'll never amount to anything as Farwell Group's lapdog!"
