Chapter 1878: What Else Do You Want?
The Crawford Heights Groupโs vacated office building was a disaster. Elektra felt a pang of regret; they'd rented the twenty-story building at a sixty percent discount on a three-year lease. The thought of Flora Verba Group following the same path filled her with sorrow. She had painstakingly built the company's reputation and secured governmental support, envisioning it as a future conglomerate. Now, she was forced to dismantle it herself, a feeling akin to smothering her own child.
She could only hope the controversy would primarily impact Roxanne and strive to minimize damage to the company. Her phone rangโChristina, as expected. Christina called daily, pressuring Elektra who stalled, claiming the third phase of products wasn't yet manufactured.
โThe second phase sold out. Itโs time for phase three. Be ready,โ Christina said, her voice devoid of emotion.
Resentfully, Elektra replied, โI am. Over three hundred flagship stores are operational. Phase three will dominate the market.โ
โExcellent. When the time comes, this will be too big for Lucian, no matter how powerful he is. This is exhilarating!โ Christinaโs laughter held a ruthless edge that chilled Elektra.
Elektra knew that even if Roxanne were ruined, Christina's leverage would leave her with little gain. She had to appease Christina by surrendering her Flora Verba Group shares.
โIโll accept your offer. Our reward for taking down Roxanne. Two billion will suffice. And please help me find my family,โ Christina said, her tone softening.
The casual request offered Elektra a sense of control. Christina's parents remained in the country; she could use them as leverage. Otherwise, Christina would betray her once her goals were achieved.
โNo problem. I'll help you find your family. Anything else?โ Elektra replied.
After the call, Elektra left the building. Roxanneโs call startled her.
โElektra, why were you on the phone so long? I needed to speak to you urgently!โ Roxanne said anxiously, explaining she'd repeatedly tried to reach her.
Elektra, assuming it was a friend seeking product information, felt guilty. โIโm sorry. I was in a meeting and missed your calls.โ
โDon't worry. I wanted to ask about the three hundred thousand units. Two hundred thousand might suffice, to ease production pressure. Or, we could extend the deadline by ten days; one month is too tight!โ Roxanne explained, her concern also stemming from her impending wedding. She needed time off to prepare, lest Lucian berate her.
