Chapter 1880: That Is The Plan

As they chatted, Roxanne encouraged Madilyn, sensing her lack of confidence. Madilyn responded with a wry smile, shifting the conversation to Roxanne's wedding. She wasn't afraid of Coralie's family, but wary of Coralie's vibrant demeanor and the self-assurance it conveyed. Madilyn, an illegitimate child abandoned by her father, had faced life's hardships from a young age. She sensed Coralie's energy was exactly what Jonathan needed to overcome his depression. Perhaps she's better suited to him, she thought.

To avoid worrying Roxanne, Madilyn kept these thoughts to herself, focusing on wedding preparations. She promised to choose a wonderful gift. Roxanne's inquiry about the gift elicited a playful eye roll when Madilyn admitted she hadn't decided. They parted ways as darkness fell.

Returning to the mansion, Roxanne found everyone bustling in the living room. Feeling slightly embarrassed about her lack of participation, she was greeted by Estella's enthusiastic welcome and a glass of water. Archie and Benny, equally affectionate, showered her with attention.

"What's going on? What do you want this time? Spit it out," she asked, her suspicions aroused by their overwhelming affection.

Lucian chuckled, shaking his head. "Nothing's going on. They're just happy to see you. I showed them a photo album; they understood how much you've suffered."

Sonya added, with genuine sincerity, "That's right, Roxanne. It must have been hard raising two boys, studying medicine, and building your career in Epea! I respect you immensely. I was blind to your exceptional qualities before." Her demeanor was a stark contrast to her past behavior, making Roxanne question her sincerity. Elias, too, sensed the exaggeration in Sonya's praise.

"I see. Let me know if I can help. It's my wedding; I can't let you all do the work," Roxanne said, despite the contentment of her family life. She felt uneasy not contributing, as if her happiness depended on it.

Lucian, his gaze drifting to Roxanne's belly, shook his head thoughtfully. "There's only one thing you can do now. The children want siblings, and my parents want another grandchild. Estella's illness and resentment made things difficult for them. Thereforeโ€ฆ"

Roxanne understood instantly. They were pampering her to encourage another pregnancy. She shared their sentiments. As her husband said, everyone harbored regrets about their unhappy three-year marriage and subsequent six years raising the children.
