Chapter 1884: Karma
At Horington International Airport, Christina disembarked and smoothly cleared immigration with a new identity card. She could finally return openly; no trace of Aubree Pearson remained. Even her parents might not recognize her.
Elektra picked her up, and they proceeded directly to the new factory. Christina smiled, a wide, satisfied smile, at the sight of employees injecting the liquid substance into the products. Her elation was chilling; it felt as if she were watching them inject poison into Roxanne. Soon, Roxanne would be destroyed.
โThis is the third day, and we've completed eighty thousand sets,โ Elektra reported impassively. โThe products are in over two hundred stores across thirty counties. Tomorrow, we finish the shipments to mid-tier cities.โ
Christina saw Elektraโs suppressed resentment. โOnce sales begin, the problem will surface within a day,โ she said, a cruel laughter escaping her. โThe controversy will explode across all cities. Roxanne, how will you quell the fire then?โ
Elektra nodded, acknowledging the plan's ruthlessness. She knew Christina chose her because of her unique positionโher childhood friendship with Lucian and the Lane familyโs close ties to the Farwells, which had facilitated her partnership with Roxanne.
Christina strolled through the factory, her hyaluronic-acid-enhanced smile seeming unnatural. โWhatโs Roxanne doing? You're watching her, right?โ
โYes, but constant surveillance is impossible,โ Elektra replied. โWe only have a general idea of her activities. Sheโs surrounded by bodyguards.โ
Elektra looked up sharply. โDid you orchestrate Sonyaโs car accident? To make Lucian prioritize Roxanneโs physical safety and neglect other aspects?โ
Christina laughed. โYou make me sound meticulous. I merely wanted to demonstrate my capabilities. This plan, however, will surprise even Lucian.โ
Lucian's name evoked nothing in Christina now. His cruelty had forced her flight from Horington. Life in Hawen was torture; sheโd lived as a soulless corpse. Now, it was time for retribution. Since he cherished Roxanne, she would destroy her completely.
Meanwhile, Roxanne and Lucian exited a bridal boutique, hand in hand. The boutique's renowned designers commanded high fees and required appointments, but theyโd made an exception for Lucian. Despite the opulence, Roxanne felt something was missing from her gown.
โI think we should let Essie design it,โ she suggested. โI trust her, even if the last version wasn't perfect.โ
Lucian frowned. โI'm not opposed, but time's short. Essie might compromise her health to rush it. You know her.โ
Roxanne knew; her daughter shared her tendency to prioritize passion over rest.
โLetโs let her try, keeping an eye on her,โ Roxanne proposed. โWe can choose a gown from the boutique as a backup. We can decide later based on her progress.โ
