Chapter 1932: Please Do Not Cry
Her expression changed drastically. She violently shook her head, denying James's allegations. โNo! I did not! I didn't change. You killed me. I won't let this matter slide. Stop your nonsense, James Lann!โ
James snorted coldly. His voice was so loud that Lucian and Roxanne heard him through the door. Jones wrung his hands, pacing anxiously; he feared unforeseen incidents.
โDon't forget this, Aunt Sheba. You tried to poison your sister. You wanted to hurt and cripple her to be with my father, right?โ
James steeled himself. He had to fight poison with poison, even if 'Aunt Sheba' escalated her actions.
โNo! I didn't do that! It wasn't me, James!โ
โDon't deny it, Aunt Sheba. It was you. You even tried to stop me from telling the others. Aunt Sheba, why? Why is it wrong for me to inform my mother?โ
A seasoned psychologist, James never expected to confront consciousness directly, attempting to reason with it. Consciousness differed from subconsciousness; the subconscious followed the patient's will, but the conscious mind did not.
โThe one who killed me is you!โ
โYes. You're right, and I blame myself. I had no choice; I had to protect my mother. Aunt Sheba, you were wrong from the start, not me. I never intended to hurt you!โ
James's words seemed to affect 'Sheba.' Though rage and hatred remained on her face, she no longer acted like a wild beast.
โOh, my nephew! Why are you still alive? You should feel guilty! Your life should end! Don't tell me your mother forgives you. How could she? I'm her sister!โ
Agony etched deeper into James's expression as he understood Yennefer's mental confusion and the creation of a new personality. His mother never forgave him for Aunt Sheba's death; she used this personality to unleash her fury.
โAunt Sheba, she hasn't felt happy since you died. It hurts her so much. Aunt Sheba, you're my mother's sister. It was wrong to try to hurt her! Why are you still torturing her when you were the one at fault? You should disappear and leave us alone!โ
He continued, โMom did enough for you. She treated you better than anyone. Her biggest mistake was introducing you to my father, causing you to fall in love with him! You are in the wrong! Why do you think you can continue pestering us?โ
James bombarded 'Sheba' with questions, treating the ailing Yennefer as the real Sheba. Complicated emotions filled his eyes as he met Yennefer's gaze.
'Sheba' was speechless, her hands trembling, reluctance dawning on her face. โIs that so? Is that the truth? Am I the only one who made a mistake?โ She attempted a defense.
Then, 'Sheba' froze. A gentleness filled her gaze. โJames! I can hear your voice. James, are you all right? Please don't cry, James!โ
