Chapter 1944: Got Lucky
Coralieโs brother intensely disliked her for revealing her identity, driving Jonathan away, and demanding her transfer to another hospital. Madilynโs appointment as director surprised me; she seems so young. Roxanne founded the hospital, but I doubt she appointed Madilyn out of nepotism. Madilyn must be exceptionally capable. I couldn't help but feel envious watching Jonathan beside her.
"Since you're the director, you're responsible for your words," Shawn haughtily declared.
Enraged, Madilyn retorted coldly, "I am, and I will be. Since you detest our hospital, I'll proceed with the patient's discharge immediately."
She promptly sought out Coralie's doctor to initiate the transfer. Jonathan followed, apologizing, "Don't be angry, Madilyn. Shawn is always unreasonable."
"Are you trying to stop me?" Madilyn challenged. Why is he still so kind after Shawn drove him away?
"No, I'm just worried about potential complaints. It could affect your reputation," Jonathan replied, honestly concerned.
Reassured, Madilyn paused, looking at him. "It doesn't matter. Mr. Crawford insulted our hospital first. Even if Roxanne is involved, she won't blame me."
She proceeded to the doctor's office and swiftly explained the situation. The doctor, following the director's orders, complied without question.
Madilyn returned to her office with Jonathan. "What else do you want, Jonathan? If you want to continue caring for Coralie, find out where she's transferring." Her anger lingered.
Jonathan, stunned, shook his head. "I didn't know Coralie was a Crawford. If I had, I wouldn't have interacted with her, and this wouldn't have happened. Besides, I didn't cause the accident. And Shawn's attitude is unbearable!"
He doesn't understand my anger at all. I'm speechless. He's honest, but what can I say? Madilyn finally asked, "So, is there anything else you need to do?"
Jonathan, scratching his head, suggested, "How about lunch? You're about to break for lunch, aren't you?"
"Err..." Madilyn was taken aback by his directness. Is he serious? He really just wants lunch with me.
She nodded. "Sure. Wait for me."
After Jonathan left, Madilyn informed Roxanne of Coralie's transfer to prevent Shawn from filing a complaint.
Roxanne was surprised. "So, Shawn showed up and chased his sister's boyfriend away? You got lucky, Madilyn!"
Madilyn was astonished. Now that I think about it, I guess I did.
