Chapter 1946: Get Everything Back

After seeing Shawn drive away, Jonas briefly chatted with Coralie before leaving himself. He had an important appointment that day.

Upon arriving at the restaurant, his guest, Grant Jarvis, was already seated. Jonas judged, from Grant's attire, that he was easily susceptible to bribery. Grant's unease was palpable; he was in a high-end establishment without next month's rent. He had no idea who his appointment was with, but the promise of help made it worthwhile. Creditors were relentlessly pressing him after his absence from his daughter's wedding and his failure to forge a relationship with the Farwell family. Some economic crime officers had even urged him to repay his debts or face prison.

Grant froze upon seeing Jonas, then hastily stood, smiling broadly. "Hello, hello. I'm Grant Jarvis, and you areโ€ฆ"

"Hello, Mr. Jarvis. I'm Jonas Crawford, and I am someone who can help you. Have a seat." Jonas smiled confidently, noting Grant's awkwardness. Having thoroughly investigated Grant's situationโ€”a disowned father burdened by debtโ€”Jonas knew the slightest benefit would secure his cooperation.

He sat, produced a checkbook and pen, and quickly wrote an amount. Grant craned his neck, desperate to see the sum. After the five, a line of zeros followed.

Jonas pushed the check across the table. "Here's five million, Mr. Jarvis. A token of my sincerity for our future cooperation. I hope you accept it. I can absolutely help you make a comeback!"

Grant was speechless, his cheeks twitching, eyes shining with delight. Five million! He could alleviate the pressure from his creditors and, with future collaboration, receive substantial payments. Mr. Crawford was a saint!

His outstretched hand paused. "Do you mean that, Mr. Crawford? This isn't a joke, a blank check?" he asked hesitantly.

"Do you think I'd go to such lengths for amusement? Let's be direct. Roxanne is your daughter, right? That's enough."

Jonas revealed his interest: Grant's identity. It held significant future value, but resolving Grant's current problems was crucial. The five million was merely the first payment; more would follow. Regardless, it far surpassed the two billion lost by Shawn's company.

"That's right. Roxanne is my daughter, but our relationship is strained. Are you aware of that, Mr. Crawford?" Grant asked. He'd fantasized about wealth, but his daughter's wedding and the Farwells' rejection had dashed any hopes of receiving help from her.

"I am aware, and it's fine! Aren't I here to help you get everything back? Mr. Jarvis, you simply need to remember that I'll arrange everything from now on!" A confident smile played on Jonas' lips, as if his plan was already unfolding.
