Chapter 1963: A Little Sister

Despite her reluctance, Yuliana couldn't afford to lose Davidโ€”he was her financial lifeline. She had no choice but to call her mother and explain the situation.

Winnie exploded with anger, unleashing a torrent of curses upon Roxanne. "Yuliana, what now? Return to David's side. You're too easily found here, and the Farwell family are powerful enemies. I'm still here; we'll find a way to retaliate. We won't let this go! I'll make them payโ€”those three children will suffer for this!"

Winnie, basking in the luxury of two houses and dreaming of a prosperous future, was oblivious to the trouble Roxanne was stirring. Roxanne not only refused to acknowledge their step-daughter relationship but also targeted Yuliana. Winnie vowed revenge.

"Mom, I understand. I'll leave soon. When Yosef returns, tell him to lie low and avoid Roxanne. She's dangerous and will target anyone. We'll have our revenge later. And forget Grantโ€”leave him!"

Mother and daughter spoke as if parting forever. Roxanne, unaware of their conversation, was simply disappointed in the family. She had found a new family, a safe harbor and source of support.

Lucian breathed a sigh of relief when Cayden reported Yuliana had left Horington that night. That evening, Roxanne's stomach churned violently. Whether it was from the day's agitation was unclear. She rushed to the bathroom, retching.

Seeing her distress, Lucian gently patted her back, asking what she'd eaten. Roxanne lifted her head, a sweet smile playing on her lips.

Lucian was stunned, then comprehension dawned. Surprise etched his features. "Really? Are you sure?" he asked urgently.

Roxanne smirked. "Don't forget I'm a doctor!"

"Check your pulse!" Lucian barely contained his excitement.

Roxanne shook her head, splashing water on her face. "Too early to be certain, but I'm fairly sure I'm pregnant. My period's lateโ€”over ten days. Besides, I ate the same as you; there's no reason for me to be sick if you're fine," she stated calmly.

Lucian's face lit up; he jumped for joy, arms raised in triumph. "I'm so happy! This is wonderful! Our baby's finally on the way. I was starting to think something was wrong with me," he joked.

Immediately, however, concern for Roxanne's busy schedule surfaced. He said solemnly, "Once we confirm it, you must adjust your work and daily routine. I won't let you overwork."

Roxanne's eyes sparkled with joy as she nodded obediently. The research institute, hospital, and Flora Verba Group were all well-managed; she could relax.

"I should take this chance to have a baby boy! No, a girl would be better. Essie keeps saying she wants a baby sister and that she'll be an amazing big sister."

That night, the couple stayed up late, excitedly discussing their plans for after the baby's arrival.
